Nanny Bloomberg at it again
From the NY Times:
New York City plans to enact a far-reaching ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, movie theaters and street carts, in the most ambitious effort yet by the Bloomberg administration to combat rising obesity.
The proposed ban would affect virtually the entire menu of popular sugary drinks found in delis, fast-food franchises and even sports arenas, from energy drinks to pre-sweetened iced teas. The sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces — about the size of a medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle — would be prohibited under the first-in-the-nation plan, which could take effect as soon as next March.
The measure would not apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, dairy-based drinks like milkshakes, or alcoholic beverages; it would not extend to beverages sold in grocery or convenience stores.

try to regulate wall street the real threat to society and bloomberg will cry. what will stop people from getting two smaller sugary drinks? or adding their own sugar packets to large coffees... this is a matter of choice, it can not be regulated.
People call it nannying but when you see an obese teen drinking a monster slurpie from 7/11 you will ask yourself where is that kids self control... they don't have any so don't let them obtain it in the first place
So where in the constitution does it give this tin pot dictator the authority to do things like this ?
Da mayor's got his "sugar"
so fucks da rest of us peoples dat wants a piece of Sugar Hill.
Bloomberg tore up the Constitution when he proclaimed himself Emperor.
He was ordained by the archbishop of Wall Street (the CEO of Goldman Sachs) who anointed his forehead with the blood of NYC's taxpayers.
But it excludes alcohol? Why that poses no harm and has no sugar? Watch Pepsico leave New York State and facilities in New York City to New Jersey!
Well,
maybe hizzoner has a point here.
If we consumed less sugar,
we might not be as hyper.
And being calmer...we might learn to make more intelligent voting choices.
This could result in excluding arrogant bastards like him from ever screwing up our city again.
But Queens' voters need their mega doses of sugar just to jump start their dead brains each day.
The mayor should put his fat head on a diet.
Thanks for the sugary advice
Mayor Bloomberg.
I've since cut out sodas
and switched to Dom Perignon.
Your Honor,
what have you done to improve our:
infrastructure;
overcrowded schools;
overburdened hospitals;
overstressed NYPD and FDNY capabilities?
Those are just a few sour issues
with us taxpayers.
Another year and a half (at least) until he goes away.....
I can't stand the wait.
Was that nanny or did you mean to say ninny?
So if I order a pizza, I have to pay for four 16 oz cokes @ $2 each instead of getting a 2 liter????
On ABC World News, Bloomcrap reacting to the criticism of his plan (Nanny Mike) said, "At least it gets your name in the paper. And as long as they spell your name right it's good publicity."
What an arrogant piece of shit!!!
I support the big soda ban.
I think about the nanny aspect as well, but I consider both big business and big government part of it. I'm more scared of big business actually. Where I am in Queens is surrounded by 7-11's and fast food chains with massive soda spouts. I'd be happy if the government got involved, and maybe I had more of a chance to see some healthier fare. McDonald's, Taco Bell and 7-11 are more of a juggernaut than NYC government in my mind.
It's like a dystopia where big corpos sell garbage food to the lower classes which is made of junk. I'm happy to have Bloomberg clean this up some.
People cry about big government but don't say anything about big business. In the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s there were so many independent hardware stores and wholesale construction material places in Queens. I don't know how many I visited. Home Depot has put most of them out of business. Just like big business put the little stores and restaurants out of business. Now we have fast food everywhere selling junk. If people had stood up to big business, we wouldn't have needed Bloomberg to clean up the junk food mess. There was always junk food in Queens, but not at the level there is now, with Big Gulps and all of that.
I have no problem with uncle mike dictating how much soda I can drink and where I can or can't smoke. As long as he pays my mortage, gives me spending money, pays for my food and drink, sets up a savings acct for my chidrens education, and so on and so forth.
how many ounces of soda in a 16 oz cup filled with ice?
Im in Mattituck, I just spoke with some Marta Clara Entenmann winary employees, they are laughing there ass off. Bloombergs is doing a ribbon cutting extravaganza Entenmann's new FOOT WIDE glazed and other new donuts tomorrow.
I SHIT YOU NOT !!!!!!

Let's NOT exempt wine - Bloomburg is known for buying very expensive wine, and then he'd either have to violate the ban (like the helicopter ban) or do without
He should put a cap on how much money he could make in 1 year as mayor.
i think what would be a better option is to say how many servings is in that 30oz cup. If you look at a bottle of soda a lot of them say 2 servings yet we drink them as one. That is why we are fat.
Do ya think Bloomcrap's legacy will be a good one?
FAT CHANCE!!!
Next he'll ban liquor. Afer all, liquor and spirits have lots of sugar in it. Somebody put a stake through his heart already.
All bow to Lord Bloomberg
No sugar but Bloomberg endorses lawful to call marriage by a guy to a guy giving / getting it up the as@ healthy?
How fuc* up is his prospective on anything?
Alcohol is exempt (no sugar in booze?) which has cause extensive misery for countless individuals, exempt?
Casino gambling in Queens - lawful - sure it won't hurt you but you may not have money for the family's dinner next week or miss a home mortgage payment?
Hey all of the vices from sexual aberrations to gambling - knock yourself out - but sugared sodas - are you out of your friggin mind Mayor Bloomberg? Go run for office in Bermuda!
