Suh declines GOP's offer

From City and State:

A top choice for Queens Republicans to run in the newly created Asian-American Senate district in Flushing has decided not to run after briefly considering the position, according to sources familiar with his decision.

The potential candidate, Edward K. Suh, is a Korean-American assistant district attorney in the Queens County D.A.’s economic crimes division, where he has worked since 2006.

Suh has been part of major economic crime prosecutions in Queens over the past several years, including a $13 million identity theft ring bust known as “Operation Swiper” in October last year, where 111 individuals were arrested. At the time, Queens County D.A. Richard Brown called it “the largest identity theft takedown in U.S. history.”

Reached by phone, Suh said, ”I never seriously considered running,” but added he was “flattered” to be thought of as a good candidate.

Suh long, fella!

The Queens "R" party is soon headed for the elephant's burial ground.

The grand old Walrus, Phil Ragusa, is stuck on an ice flow headed toward the equator.

GOP melt down ensuing.

The Republicans are all jumping ship.

No doubt we'll be seeing Dan Halloran swimming toward the Democratic party's lifeboat.

He'll tip it over!

Another reason why government is the way it is.

It would be wonderful if someone can research and enumerate how we get crop after crop of official candidates as the quality of government continues to slide and we have no options for it.

This man has a nice career ahead of himself. He probably did a great deal of thinking about it recently.

Perhaps he had discussions with others about this, too.

There is hope in North Queens

The Dems won't be happy until there is a one-party government in NY. That will be soon. As long as qualified people don't come forward, the democratic rule will remain. Republicans can't come up with the tons of cash needed to run against these people. Democrats make sure that Republicans can't get on the ballot by negating their petitions. You can bury the GOP. They are dead on arrival.

like most people, he can't afford to take a leave of absence from his job. could you? only rich people can run for office.

There has always been some pork that gets distributed to city Republicans.

The problem is the status quo only attracts the already corrupted or desires-to-be-corrupted to the Republican clubs.

Where's mine?

the nyc city council is 50 dem/lib/progressive to 3 G.O.P./conservatives. nyc has been governed by a dictatorship,for many years.

a rino mayor does not help either.watch who he surrounds himself with....all dem/libs. even the developers are lib.

in a union/media /political(one party) nyc, why would any honest reform type citizen subject themselves to the tyranny from the dictators soldiers ?

just observe the vicious innuendo and unsubstantiated charges that many commenters on this site direct towards the present and former opposition electeds .

union mob rule is not the answer.can "CHECKS AND BALANCES" government take place in n.y.c.? not at the present.

N.Y.C.= GREECE......

Gramps - you constantly get the numbers wrong. There are only 51 members of the City Council. 47 are Democrats or Working Family party members and 4 are Republicans (used to be 46 and 5 until Peter Koo-Koo changed parties last month so he can attempt to get re-elected).

You can continue to rant and rave to your hearts' content, but get yer numbers right for once.

the erroneous #'s are posted so that the irrelevant leftie (Q.C.'s media matters rep.)has something to comment on.

my original point still holds,no matter the difference of two members.

NYC=GREECE=dictatorship and bankruptcy.

Actually, I wasn't going to comment here, Gramps. Your ravings sometime speak for themselves.

GREECE=GREECE

Since John Liu is no longer viable to become NYC's next mayor, please consider the following options.

Column "A":

Tommy Huang for mayor.

Wellington Chen for chair of NYC's Economic Development Corporation.

Peter Koo (LOL!) for Speaker of The City Council.

Fred Fu for Comptroller.

John Choe for City Council (with honorary advisory ambassador status to north Korea).

(yawn) etc.

If you can think of any more NYC Asiatics suitable to enhance the newly created NYS Oriental district please list them below in...

Column "B":

Your a fool if you run this year on the republican ticket.
Your not going to win. Just look at the loser they have for president. No republican is happy with their choice. If you want to waste your $$$$$ go ahead. All you'll get
is a lost,bills and frustration.

As Newt Gingrich says, in areas where there is little or no GOP presence (ie many urban areas,) put up conservative candidates in the Democratic primary. That's your only hope.
