In short: private gain at public expense."
What is meant by "tweeding"? It's used all over this site, but frankly I've never heard it used anywhere else. --------------------------------------------------- Then you're a moron!!!

Quotes from Gangs of NY which inspired the word 'to tweed':
"New York loved William Tweed, and hated him. And those of us trying to be thieves well... we couldn't help but admire him."
Boss Tweed: That's the building of our country right there, Mr. Cutting. Americans aborning. Bill: I don't see no Americans. I see trespassers, Irish harps. Do a job for a nickel what a nigger does for a dime and a white man used to get a quarter for. What have they done? Name one thing they've contributed. Boss Tweed: Votes.
"New York loved William Tweed, and hated him. And those of us trying to be thieves well... we couldn't help but admire him."
HOW APPROPRIATE THAT THE NAME OF THE D.O.E. BUILDING THAT IS MAYOR BLOOMBERGS PRIDE AND JOY IS NAMED THE TWEEB BUILDING. A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL OF NEW YORK AND WE ARE TOO STUPID TO NOTICE.
As a former Securities and Exchange Commission attorney this is particularly appalling to me.
Insider trading is also not a victim-less crime. When a Congressman uses inside information to effectuate a stock trade the person on the other side of the trade is being taken advantage of.
Public officials should never use their positions for personal gain.
Read about Sen. Richard Burr (R) North Carolina who invested in natural gas companies that would benefit from legislation he co-sponsored offering tax credits for natural gas-fueled vehicles.
Surprise! He voted against banning insider trading for members of Congress!
both sides of the political aisle took advantage of their INSIDER KNOWLEDGE from the U.S. Gov. Committees.
they all have bind trusts, just like doomsberg. his financial advisor was Steven Rattner, of Obamamotors Czarism and the Hevesi/ Morris NYC/NYS pension fund scandal.Rattner was fined $100 million. his lawyer was Jaime Gorelick,$26 MILLION from Fannie Mae/freddie mac./ D.O.J. under W.J.Clinton and Google VS.U.S.D.O.J. Google was fined $500,000.000. and no jail time.
No one else on earth uses the term "tweeding", regardless of what's in the dictionary. It's a little silly. Boss tweed was known for corruption, and theft-- not for building McMansions in Queens.
one wonders who gets the public scandal court fines ($100,000,000. and $500,000,000.) that the indicted persons and corporations pay to stay out of jail ?

Sorry, the word is here. Get used to it cause its use is spreading.

Its in the Urban Dictionary and in fairly common use among those ' in the know.'
One of the words - like 'Democratic Dictionary' and 'Honest Joe Crowley' (among other fitting monikers) coined at this site.
I'm sure the politicians will find a loophole somewhere.

Thank City Council - they overturned your term limits to make all those things that that wonderful man does possible.
Sad thing about it is the House Republicans will block it. Chances are it will never come up for a vote.

This bill is not about McMansions, it's about honest graft. Definition in the sidebar.

J. Gorelick must pay some income taxes?
