Remember about a year and a half ago when I broke the news that Elmhurst Park was getting
a $2M toilet?
Well, it's under construction and has been since last spring.
Why is this roundhouse taking so long to build and how much more is the delay costing us? And where are park patrons relieving themselves in the meantime? Wait - I don't want to know.
This sounds like something someone named John Liu should be interested in. Hee hee, "John" "Loo"...

Noah's ark?
Simple, if it was done in the time private industry would have built it, there is no way to explain a $2 million outhouse.
Bet it will end up costing even more.
Who is going to monitor this restroom? The Parks dept can't even plant a tree properly....
Wow this sort of thing looks like it could have been more easily pre-fabricated and assembled on-site. Of course, then the trade unions, politicians, etc don't get to dip into the till.
Whoa!
It even looks like a giant commode!
I wonder whose huge ass is going to mount it when it's finally finished...."granny" Shulman's or "tubby" Stavisky's?
(If "granny's" still around when the job is done).
If not, let's name it the "Shulman Memorial Shit House".
Well i think its becoming increasingly apparent that the capital expenditures in Queens is totally out of control. From the library to the waterfront development.
Yet there is no money for the things we need like schools, hospitals, enforcement of building codes and housing regs. Infrastructure gets paid lip service at best.
We need to dig deeper until those bastards responsible for this (and we all know who they are) start to bleed.
Really? No surprise here when you have a comptroller named "john" "loo"!
meanwhile the money allocated for a restroom at little bay went missing and still no toilets are on the horizon
It would have been cheaper to put two portable potties there and have the refuse picked up every week. Two million dollar would have been better spent on a hospital. We used to have one near Elmhurst Park, but now the residents have to go to Flushing or Manhattan if they are really in need of medical care. This is just another waste of taxpayer dollars.
A crapper that size wouldn't be big enough for all the crap that Queens politicians generate.
They are peeing behind the pines on the western edge of the park. All the best people frequent this park, remember.
Where are they going to put the tank and flusher for that toilet?
Same thing is going on in the Bronx at the Edgar Allen Poe House. the renovations have been halted and vandals are stealing the slate roof tiles.
Liu is too busy fundraising to do his job as Comptroller.

True that and in the process, he's "flushing" New York City down the crapper!
The the entire construction history of this parks's contractors and city agencies that oversaw them should be investigated for massive fraud and theft. This latest episode - a rest station did not need to be rebuilt or designed to be difficult to construct. Investigate this nightmare of a money pit!
how long until its padlocked because of drugs/hookers/bad guys?

Start the countdown right after it opens.
No toilet = complain, new toilet = complain. If it were "private industry" it wouldn't be happening at all. The site would still be a toxic waste dump making people sick. That's a fact, not an opinion.
When was it ever a toxic waste dump that made people sick? It contained 2 holders for natural gas. No one who lived there ever complained of them causing illness.
And by the way, they were set to break ground on a Home Depot there before the announcement that it was to become a park. So Home Depots are considered to be toxic waste dumps? And here I thought they were retail establishments. "That is a fact, not an opinion." What an ass.
D.Trump had the TRUMP/WOLLMAN skating rink in Central Park operating in three months , after the ED. KOCH DEM. bunglers put it out of use for EIGHT YEARS.
Doomsberg, call donald and piss in comfort this year.
Bloomberg is too short to use that toilet.
Could be Queens' version of Manhattan's Guggenheim museum. Two Million???
Thanks, Johnny Lulu!!!
