From the NY Post:
First, Mayor Bloomberg went after smoking in public places. Then trans-fats, salt and sugary drinks.
Now Bloomberg — known for sipping fine wine and downing a cold beer from time to time — wants to crack down on alcohol sales to curb excessive drinking, according to a provocative planning document obtained by The Post.
The city Health Department’s far-reaching Partnership for a Healthier New York City initiatives proposes to slash the number of establishments in the city that sell booze.
Community “transformation” grants provided under President Obama’s health-care law would help bankroll the effort.
Mayor Bloomberg could find it harder to find a nice glass of wine if he gets his way.
One of the goals listed in the “request for proposal” document to community groups is “reducing alcohol retail outlet (e.g. bar, corner store) density and illegal alcohol,” the document states.
Then he changed his mind...
From NY1:
Without a doubt, the amount of food people pile on to their plates at home and in restaurants has grown exponentially throughout the years.
In fact, according to the city's Health Department, popular items like soft drinks and french fries have, for the most part, quadrupled in size within a half-century. Most people's waistlines have also expanded.
So city health officials are launching a new campaign, "Cut Your Portions, Cut Your Risk," to get more New Yorkers to do some crowd control in our meal plans, especially when it comes to eating out.
The campaign shows the consequences of that riskier deal, depicting how the size of burgers, french fries and sugary drinks have gotten bigger, and lists the consequences, such as being overweight or obese, having diabetes and other serious health complications.

What's going to cut back dining out calories is the closure of restaurants by owners sick of contending with fines from overly zealous inspectors... while it is a good idea to protect our safety, that protection does not require jack-booted nazis (some of whom, apparently, are on the take: my building has 2-inch bugs running around and no proper place for garbage... yet got an "A" rating!)
"Wah...wah...wah"!
Baby Bloomberg's always whining about something.
You dumb voters who put him in office enjoy the rest of his term...and yours!
I'll just pop my DVD of "Escape From New York" into my player and light up.
Unless, of course, Mein Fuhrer has banned me from smoking or drinking or consuming trans fats at home.
FU...you diminutive dork!
Emperor Nero is at it again!
But cPeter Ustinov was more convincing playing that role.
I wish I were his nanny.
I'd leave him on the steps of an orphanage in a trash bag.

Didn't know that the Constitution empowered the federal government to perform "transformations" on it's citizens.
Jewish Liberal controlling tactics.
Were too stupid to know how to regulate our alcohol/calorie intake and individualistic voluntary consumption.
Here's a REAL good story about the absurb laws in New York(City).

Constitution of the United States "Article IV, section 2; The Citizens of each State SHALL BE ENTITLED to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States."
Ryann has a valid carry permit in Indiana, and by the Constitution he has the right to carry in New York, New York. PERIOD. It is the same law that says a Marriage in one state is valid in all 50 states, and seven territories
One of the comments in the article explains the ridiculousness of how New York obstensibly violates the constitution.
Before you know it the Government/NY is going to tell you how much air you can/cant breathe.

Explain to us all in a clear and lucid fashion what Bloomberg's religion has to do with anything.
It's interesting how you keep finding the need to make comments like this. What religious group are you a member of?
Reducing liquor licenses wont reduce drinking, it will just make liquor licenses more valuable (and more expensive) for those who have them.

"Explain to us all in a clear and lucid fashion what Bloomberg's religion has to do with anything "
If he actually is a TRUE adherent of his religion, it dictates EVERY action in his life and decision making.
Yawn!
Oh...it's all President Obama's fault...over and over and over again.
Hey, Johnny one note...got any other tunes to play?
Think local.
The Stavisky dynasty and all of the other connected political suck-dicks were all here way before Obama!
Everybody in the Queens Democratic machine is forever kissing Emperor Bloomberg's skinny ass.
They fear little Caligula's wrath if they don't support any measure he puts forth.
But how does that justify your comment?

According to who?
Every time I turn around, the city is doing something new to screw us over and make our lives harder. Whether it's changing the direction of traffic on streets without community input, installing muni-meters everywhere which might even raise the price of parking to ten cents for fifteen minutes during peak hours, trying to cramp down on what we can eat or drink or drive or.... I've lived here all my life but first opportunity and I'm out of here. They decreased the crime rate now they're treating all the residents like criminals, ticketing us left and right, any excuse to squeeze more money from us. I hate NY.
