* Some members of the Queens Civic Congress — a politically influential group that represents more than 100 community organizations in the borough — were irked that instead of attending the organization’s recent legislative reception, several local pols were singing karaoke at a fundraiser for Congressman Joe Crowley. Paul Graziano, a longtime member of the organization, said he was surprised when a swath of photos appeared on Facebook showing politicians from around the city belting out tunes, including rival county leaders Vito Lopez and Joe Crowley singing a duet. A number of Democrats made it to both events, but those who attended only the Crowley fundraiser included Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilwoman Liz Crowley and Crowley himself, according to Graziano. “Obviously, some of the leadership was upset,” said Graziano.

It is questionable if QCC is really a "politically influential group." It's more like a spineless group that kiss up to the pols.

Maybe, just maybe, Queens Civic Congress is not an influential organization that some think it is.
Pandering and acting meek to the politicians may get you a few dollars and a meeting or two but those dolts only know a) what Honest Joe tells them to think, b) campaign donations - and it can be from an ayatollah as far as they are concerned, and ... well that's about it.
Gotta keep things simple for simple minds.

The feds should have dropped a net over the bunch of them and hauled them in to prison. You know they always go where the money is. They don't give a crap about civics or their constituents. Just so telling.

So the Maspeth council member and congress member and the Council Speaker spent money on a lavish party that probably cost more than $50k, yet they can't come up with the same amount of money to fund the St. Saviour's ULURP? What selfish pricks!

Seems like this is all Crowley does well - campaign, anoint others to run for office and generally speaking avoid talking at constituent gathering so that life is easy for this long term -do-nothing.

Who is he patting on the head? IS Crowley the new Cardinal? Wow Crowley has really lost it and others are sensing blood and going in for the kill at the POLs next November - everyone will be lining up against hi - he is very vulnerable especially when he will be forced to endorse Quinn for Mayor shortly. His family friendly and what's left of his middle class constituents are not happy - in fact - he will flame out and going down with Obama in a big way. So raise that money but it will be squandered just as Obama was so good at doing.
