There he goes again

From the Daily News:

Some of the layoffs of teachers and other city employees that were averted in tense budget negotiations last spring could be back on the table in the next few weeks.

Mayor Bloomberg's budget officials notified some City Council members Tuesday morning that they plan to order across-the-board budget cuts of every city agency - including the NYPD and the education department.

They plan to slash 2% from agency budgets in the current fiscal year that ends next June, two sources said.

The cuts are expected to save $500 million for the cash-strapped city.

Hizzoner also plans to propose much deeper whacks - a 6% slam - for next fiscal year to save $1.5 billion.

From Willets Point United:

Yes "cash strapped city" has an ominous ring to it, doesn't it? So why are we allowing the city to speculate with the Willets Point development when across the board cuts are chopping away at vital city services-even the police? And the shortfall is $1.5 billion: "Hizzoner also plans to propose much deeper whacks — a 6% slam — for next FY to save $1.5 billion."

But that's because Bloomberg the Mayor is such a sharp fiscal manager, right? Still, with all this cutting that's going on no one has asked the administration to put a number on the cost of Willets Point-looking more and more like Bloomberg's Solyndra.

could, may,possibly,probably,might.

i will believe it when it happens.

my private sector relative was laid off twice in four years after holding high positions in his industry for 16 years.
25 % of workers under 35 years old are back living with their parents.the public sector can no longer be subsidized by the private sector. the FREE LUNCH IS OVER.

the n.y.c citizens can not afford the higher taxes to cover public union worker's high salaries and outrageous benefit packages any more.

one hopes that no one gets laid off , but this city government/political/public union/ money laundering is UNSUSTAINABLE .

BS.........it's contract negotiation time, the city never wants to pay.Even when the city is flush, they always say there will be a defict the next fscal year;or in giulianni's case he just said fuck you...........that's one reason he'll NEVER get elected to anther office!

"Yamma, yamma, yamma".

Bloomberg is forever being caught with his pants down and never knows which action to take or what to say.

"Le Nez" and his nasal utterances are beginning to bore us all.

Run this runt out of town!

How much did the construction of the new Yankee Stadium and Citifield cost the "cash-strapped" City?

Perhaps the Mayor should consider reinstating the parking tax in Manhattan...

it is being reported that the Transportation Workers Union will join with the "OCCUPY WALL STREET" socialist parasite tools.

i will not forget the Xmas wildcat strike that the TWU pulled on nyc taxpayers. it took me three hours to get out of the traffic gridlock from L.I.C. to Manhattan. these thugs do not deserve our tax money.

Do you know how many people were seriously injured during the 2005 transit strike?

But we have all the money in the world for willets point
and to put tables in the middle of times square.

The public sector supplies your water, picks up your trash, puts out your fires, drives your buses and trains, teaches your children, and watches you and your property while you sleep. Why don't we take these people we depend on down a peg?

Stop the city from doling out corporate welfare to millionaire developers and then get back to us about squeezing the middle class public sector worker.

recent public vs. private incomes have been analyzed by some media.

the public sector workers ,with outrageous benefit packages are earning more income than the same category of private sector workers.

why have only mostly private sector workers been laid off in the past four years?

most U.S. government union workers in D.C. are getting high incomes with benefits, and are earning more than the rest of the Nation's workers. very little unemployment reported there.

why did obama grant over 1500 group waivers from OBAMACARE to most of the public unions and financially supportive groups to his campaign ?

why are the taxpayers paying almost $300,000 per worker to create GREEN INDUSTRY jobs that go bankrupt ?

You haven't been paying attention, Gramps. A lot of public sector employees have lost their jobs - from the looks of what our beloved mayor is saying, more layoffs are coming.

Feel better?

i have been laid off , when my company closed down in 1977 during the James Carter depression, with 10% unemployment, 14% inflation and 19 % loan interest rates. it was a catastrophe. and now private sector relatives have been jobless, in the past four years.

the fact remains that if the private sector workers can not pay tax revenue to N.Y.C.,the unionized fire ,police.sanitation public workers etc. will not get salaries or benefits.
todays ny post tells us that the average fire fighter gets a $4,600 per month pension ,with health benefits also for the family? and some retirees are getting near $100,000.per year ?

the NYC D.O.E. budget has doubled since 1997($21 BILLION /per year and rising in 2011.(180 days of teaching?)
the transit workers have also gotten outrageous increases in their salary/benefits package.yet they pull wildcat strikes on xmas to teach the taxpayers a lesson ?

some d.o.s employees run their plow shovels raised ,so no snow is removed, after taxpayers were stranded three days.

this does not happen in the private sector. these costs at this time to nyc property owners and taxpayers is UNSUSTAINABLE.

the" occupy wall street mob "is calling the financial workers greedy.but their taxes pay for 20% of the money to run the NY State government.

DO NOT BITE THE HAND THAT IS FEEDING YOU.socialism is not the answer.

Who says socialism is the answer, Gramps? I don't.

And Firefighters get $4,600 a month pension? Gee. That comes to $55,200 a year. How generous, considering what they have done for us. Retired Police officers either get the same or higher pensions. And you're suggesting what?

Take a look at those bonuses the guys on Wall Street get. Corporate welfare. If they pay 20% of the money that runs the New York State government, who pays the other 80%?

That's why you have people protesting on Wall Street.

any corporate sales representative,on a commission/bonus contract, deserves the money no matter how much.
when you perform exceptionally, in capitalism, you are rewarded. perform poorly, and you starve or get replaced. you can then look for a" safe "government or union job.

as in the U.F.T., when 55% of the pupils do not graduate ( or have faked scores for college), they still reward the teachers with salary/benefits/ and tenure.

i read that few poor teachers have been fired in the nyc d.o.e., recently. it is almost impossible to discharge them. the cost and litigation is enormous and time consuming.
do the "rubber rooms" still exist?

if a corporation contracts to pay bonus /commissions for excellent performance to an employee,it is logical that the corp. made profits from that employee's hard work .
both, are satisfied. that is capitalism.

no socialist tool has the right to take any of this money.

make it themselves , and they will not complain anymore.

the FREE LUNCH IS OVER.

"as in the U.F.T., when 55% of the pupils do not graduate ( or have faked scores for college), they still reward the teachers with salary/benefits/ and tenure."

There are parents and students that don't care about education. Ask a kid about their school. Kids that talk in class and the teachers can't do anything to them. So let's say that the prior generation had 85% graduation rate, so did somehow the new batch of teachers just suck or the teachers have gotten old and senile and can't teach? Teachers are suppose to have a masters and the money they make is nothing compared to private industry. I was interested in being a teacher but looking at how teachers are treated by parents, students, and the public at large, who wants to me a teacher?

So I guess that employee should pay no taxes for public services, the military, etc? I find it fascinating people post the same simplistic nonsense ad nauseum.

Are you rich? So why do you think you're part of the elite? Do you drive a porsche to the Hamptons?

The free lunch is over for the corporations. People are now paying attention to corporate welfare.

in other words you are stating that the 50% of americans who pay NO TAXES ,should get a free ride and not pay for military defense or public services ?

an american producing high earnings and contributing 40-50% of it to the government (much of it wasted on social redistribution), is contributing enough.

one does not have to be rich or elite to possess common sense and logic.

your comment is really nonsense and flawed.
