Too many trees dying in NYC parks

NBC New York has discovered that a number of trees planted in city parks are dying, resulting in a poor landscape and wasted taxpayer dollars.

There are way too many newly planted and older trees that are dying. Wherever you walk now, the sidewalks are full of stumps sticking out of the ground, and empty tree pits. The Parks Department needs to get serious about caring for our trees.

Sure - plant them in Manhattan where the natives can barely survive the dog SHI# and P#SS yet alone a poor tree in 2 square yds of compressed dirt.

Bring them out to Queens to plant, where the natives like to knock them down for sport and firewood!

I agree, this is another problem the city needs to address.

They planted several trees on my block in Brooklyn. That's nice, but where they planted them was incredibly stupid. They're next to a churchyard under two very old and large trees in the churchyrard. They get very little direct daylight. Will they survive? Probably not.
