Spa Castle redefines "upscale"

I know you normally don't like to reference World Star Hip Hop video on your site but I thought this was something quite extraordinary.
Spa Castle (formerly called InSpa IIRC) 131-10 11th Avenue, College Point, NY 11356 is the extra fancy Korean spa that arrived in Queens with much fanfare several years ago. There had been some neighborhood opposition to its opening that Tony Avella involved himself in but that seemed to subside after the business was up and running. My ex-wife is Korean and took me here about four years ago for my birthday. Place was very upscale and the crowd was predominately Asian and everybody was well behaved. I think it costs around $45 bucks for a day pass to use the facilities just for one visit.
From the video clip, it looks like ghetto hood rats have started patronizing the place. You would think it would be out of their price range but I guess not.Anyway, it's unbelievable what you see taking place in the video. Disgusting that these types seemed to have ruined this place. - anonymous

i live in college point and have to drive past this place everyday, these animals double and triple park in front blocking traffic, and yes, get those spa castle vans out of my fu~~king neighborhood

These disgusting types have ruined nice neighborhoods. They are mostly welfare recipients who don't work and have the cash (taxpayer dime) to go to a spa. They have no regard for anyone but themselves and are loud, rude and abrasive. Check out parts of Queens on a Saturday night when they have a party and their music can be heard two blocks away. Try calling 311 and the local precinct for an assist. Good luck with that. Vibrant and diverse. Ain't it Grand?

To think that Queens - in living memory - used to be a viable alternative to Manhattan.
Now its the repository of every caccamamie idea that tweeding politicians have dreamed up.
Everything that is good and positive about the boro his being systematically starved, marginalized, or torn down.
Its leadership lives in an Alice in Wonderland world where the old bags from Astoria to Bayside get together over lunch and talk their empty talk, give each other meaningless awards, while every institution, be it cultural, intellectual, or political is infested with second stringer wannabes and hangers on who know how to follow, but have not had a new idea in their simple little noggins since the second grade.
This is a set-up. Who is the guy yelling "world-star"? the same guy who uploaded the video? Please. It would have been hilarious if some little Asian dude came out and started some chop-socky on those fat chicks. I feel sorry for the massage therapist who had to rub down those loud mouthed "beatches."

If they only admitted Koreans people would be bashing them for being racist and exclusionary, besides being illegal. So to avoid appearing racist they have to admit anyone with the money to get in. It's not like they could deny entry to these lowlifes because they "thought" they would be a problem. The same incident could have happened in any store any of us shop in. If you really want to get a feel of what this place is like, read some of the yelp reviews. It amazes me that ignorant people still think of it as a "masagee" joint.

Yes, right next to the warehouses. What's the zoning there? Would another warehouse bringing in more trucks be any better? Funny how people live next to a light industrial zone and then complain about it. Oh and aren't those houses across the street built on toxic illegal dumps re-mediated by a plastic sheet? And they're worried about vans. Ha!

Not at all a bad place. I went there yesterday for the first time. I saw nothing like that. Instead, the place was filled with families with small children and grandpas as well.
Perhaps it depends on when you go.
Its only like this during the summer or during holidays. Best days to go are tuesday through thursday. It is completely empty on those days. Thhey have also beefed up security so an event like this rarely happens.
