survival of the fittest! We don't know...they are only predictions it can be more severe. When a tree fell in my parents house during the tornado they never thought "poor tree it came to die in our living room" and the tree never thought "poor people now they have to rebuild their home but first they must wait on the insurance, i hope thye have somewhere to go"
Cutting down a healthy tree, even if the hurricane is expected, is a crime against nature. I agree entirely with the first poster who called them "tree murderers." We need more trees & not less. I can understand removing some unhealthy limbs as a precautionary measure, but these people are acting as if "What happens if the sky will fall?" Queens needs more trees & not less. When select tree care companies make recommendations, they say to remove it, so the greens can line their pockets in more ways than 1.
If you're worried the "healthy tree" will come down by nature, go into a shelter. A hurricane-prone home can be repaired, but a tree that likely lived longer than you, cannot be repaired once it's gone.
Anyway, this hurricane is unlikely to do major damage in most parts of Queens. I hope the people who chopped down these healthy trees are reading this thread.

Tree murderers. The hurricane is now expected to have 70 mile an hour winds, not 110 mile an hour. Not enough to topple healthy trees.
These people just destroyed much needed trees in Queens.

I can understand cutting dead limbs and pruning the trees, but to just cut the tree down because it may fall is retarted.

Did you go out on a limb to think that one up? Leaf it alone! Get to the root of the issue!
Hurricane Irene will hit Frushing once again whenever Hurricane Eileen comes around.
