Thanks to the over development of Queens we can expect more of this strain on the infrastructure.
Keep adding basement and attic apartments and see what happens.
Thank you D.O.B. for nothing !!!

Keep building multiple two family houses where there was only one house before.

Or even worse...apartment buildings with at least 16 units where there was a one family house! Oh the humidity!

Sorry folks. It's all about the money. Mayor Mike doesn't give a shit about the people in the boroughs -- especially Queens. He only loves the developers and their money. You know he has air conditioning and is always cool. Screw the little people. Maybe people will wise up and vote him out when he runs (buys) his fourth term.

the power companies hands have been tied by the ENVIRONMENTAL/DEMOCRAT/COMPLEX.

the U.S. energy industry is hated by the ENVIRONMENTAL/LEFTIES .

Sanctuary cities (controlled by left wing politicians ), with millions of illegal aliens using energy at peak periods are causing the "BROWN OUTS" .

REMEMBER WHO DID THIS TO YOU IN NOVEMBER. The GREEN LEFTIES are your enemies. It is all a farce.

Another major round of destroy and build is under way in the Cord Meyer section of Forest Hills.
And it's fiercer than ever!
Where is Koslowitz? Where is CB 6?
It's a damn shame.

Do you guys at City Council never get a break - how much do they pay you to sit and post this over and over again.

District Leader? Someday a judgeship?

Goes a long way explaining the gene pool that goes into office.

Oh yes, you are full of shit. Overdevelopment is squarely the result of City Council - passing zoning - appointing rubberstanp community boards - reelecting Bloomberg - serving the interests of developers.

You see, my friend, we can be tireless here too!

In fairness, it WAS 105 degrees out. Some equipment failure should be expected in such extreme weather. It's not all because of the growing city. Speaking of which, a growing city is better than a shrinking city. Just ask detroit or cleveland.

naw, lets ask Calcutta or Sao Paulo

Funny how the need lanterns and act as if the whole neighborhood is dark, yet you can see lit streetlights in the background.
Hey it sucks for anyone to lose power, but don't forget some of that record usage is due to many of us using our multiple cable boxes, big screen tv's, blue ray players, home sound systems, and various other electronic goods.
It's amazing how much electricity cable boxes use each year cumulatively.

If we all gave up our electronic entertainment during times like these, there should be no problem keeping everyone's ac going. Only problem is we would not know what to do with ourselves.

Mayor Mike doesn't care about Queens today, he only cares about the queens getting married at huge taxpayer OT expense!

Asshole....throwback....so you learned 3 vocabulary words "ENVIRONMENTAL/DEMOCRAT/COMPLEX" and even managed to string them toether!

Bravo genius....LOL!

Beyond your 4th grade outlook, it looks like you haven't learned much since!

Green Lefties don't control OVER-DEVELOPMENT....which is the cause of brownouts and power failures.

It's those right wing conservatives with all the money to overbuild!

Go pour yourself another double and lose some more brain cells!

No, the "Green Lefties" give their blessing to overdevelopment by yelling "affordable housing" and "carbon footprint" whenever possible in return for ice cream money from said developers.

As I said in another thread, in midtown, meters were showing full voltage, 125 volts to be exact. Midtown and the tourists were getting full AC, frigid fresh air, while my little window unit uptown is struggling to make it to 80 deg. Believe me, infrastructure is in great shape wherever the tourists or the wealthy live and work.

Why just midtown?

Its the same way on the Queens waterfront - when the big blackout hit a few years ago, everyone knew the Tower People had electricity while Woodside and Astoria, (which paid their utility bills thinking that their service would be maintained) actually had monies diverted to the waterfront for plugging in the tower buldibngs.

Yup, the old customers paid for capital improvements that ended up benefiting people that did not even live there yet.

If that was not bad enough, the Queens media refused to cover this, and when Queens bloggers had their faces forced into this, all they did was mechanically state that its 'Con Eds' fault mouthing the unsubstantiated claims of 'Slippery Mike' Gianaris.

Zero in Manhattan? According to the Con Ed website on Saturday, large portions of Harlem were without power.

Shame on the City and Con Ed - Mayor Blumberg should be out in St Albans with portable (trailer) generators!
