From the NY Post:
For a guy who claims not to care about the polls, Mayor Bloomberg is spending a fistful of dollars -- perhaps $2 million -- to raise his sagging approval numbers by blaming the city's fiscal woes on Albany.
The mayor dipped into his very deep pockets for a massive direct-mail campaign aimed at boosting his standing among voters -- while blaming Albany for a new round of budget cuts he could propose as early as next month.
The move came days after launching a TV ad blitz at an estimated cost of $900,000.
"Albany's Budget Cuts Will Hurt Our Families. That's Why Mike Bloomberg Is Standing Up For Us," reads the flyer that landed in mailboxes yesterday.
One source put the price of that effort at close to $1 million.

The phrase "mindnumbing" comes to mind. So does "arrogant s.o.b."
I just got one of those mail pollution pieces.
Too bad it was printed on heavy card stock.
I didn't want to cause havoc with my plumbing by giving it the royal flush that it deserved.
So it went to its fragrant end in the garbage, along with my my leftover sardines.
I only wish that Bloomberg's remaining term couldn't be over with that easily.
Pardon me, I meant, "I only regret that Bloomberg's remaining term couldn't be over with that easily".
How shameful that our billionaire bumbling mayor rather put millions of dollars into repairing his image than donating that money to some worthy causes. Arrogant egomaniac is an understatement!
I received that piece in the mail, too, and at the same time I received an urgent request--actually a plea--from the Queens Public Library for donations to buy books. They're choosing to keep people employed, they say, rather than buy new books. While commendable, it's sad that this is the choice they have to make while there is obvious money floating around for egotistical ad campaigns and renaming bridges. Very sad.
Looks like Bloomberg is going to find Albany a changed and difficult place to be and work with Cuomo. So now the blame stuff starts and the typical we will have to layoff Police and close firehouses. Of course the first of these will be his own security detail and nearby firehouse, right!

right on, the $ for Bloomberg's self promotion could have gone for much needed services to animal protection, library, senior & youth services instead of telling us how great our mayor is.
All New Yorkers should be outraged and we all should look into calling for a recall of this out of control egotistical bafoon.
where's the press in all of this?
Hasn't anyone noticed that Cuomo is doing the same commercials. Bad enough we have to watch these during election periods... If he and Bloomberg are wasting money on this crap, how can we expect them to manage our city and state?
at least this time the cult of personality sent one to MR&MRS instead of 1 to me, and 1 to my wife. save himself some money and pollution.
Who the hell watches TV anymore?
He's become a farce. Well, he has been since 2003. It's just that he was able to buy everyone off to avoid the scrutiny that he deserved.
This image of a fiscally responsible and effective mayor has finally been revealed to be one of the greatest fictions bestowed upon the ignoramuses of the public electorate in NYC political history.
It IS revealing that he continues to use money as a means to appear as effectual to the masses. People have gotten smart and now know that he's been exposed as a vastly overrated pol who is too inept and corrupt to handle the day to day governance required to govern this city.
