Firefighters battled a 2-alarm house fire at a three-story row home in Woodside, Queens on Tuesday morning.
The FDNY says one firefighter has been injured. The extent of those injuries is not yet known.
The department says 25 units and 106 firefighters responded to the scene at 37th Avenue and 68th Street. They got the call of a fire on the first floor at 6:45 a.m.
The fire was under control pretty quickly. There was extensive damage to the upper floors of the building.

6:45am? kitchen fire perhaps? thankfully the fire didn't spread to the adjoining homes.
Fire extended to the 2nd floor and one FF was trapped by fire, had to bail out a 2nd Fl rear window. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital and his recovering.
Exactly the block where the trash is out in front 24x7 and all the small gardens in front of these small homes 30 years ago, paved over and every basement occupied. I doubt if any on the block are lived in per the CO or by the actual homeowner.
walk around that neighborhood. count the con Edison meters mounted outside the multiple dwellings. see the mountains of garbage, count how many mail boxes are on the outside of the houses. see the hordes of jackpot children skip off to the NYC public school. see the many illegal immigrants congregating drinking & stinking up Hart's Park on 65th street.
this is a strong hold of illegal immigrant owners who rent out single homes that have been chopped up into apartments. these are cash cows.
there was a deadly fire in Woodside last year. guess nothing much will be done at the end of the day, either after this one.
too bad NYC employees had to be harmed at the expense of immigrant slumlords who are openly breaking the law.

I remember the previous fire, too, with building materials impeding progress. Whatever happened in that case? Seems there could have been criminal charges there.
If they ever looked into last year's fatal fire, the city would be at fault for the new Unified Call-Taker 911 system where fire calls are now given to police dispatchers who don't cross-check the address, hence the delayed response by E292 that was first sent in the opposite direction. The city didn't investigate because the CITY has blood on it's hands.
There are no such thing as illegal immigrants - they are illegal - stop referring them as immigrants - illegal and criminal is appropriate. The poster is correct in that owners are catering to illegals to rent rooms in apartments because it is all cash and they will never complain least they be tossed onto the streets in a NY minute.
First off the IRS, INS and the DOB should be called in to shut down these dangerous living arrangements. Seize the building outright and that will serve as an example to others to fear! Then the illegals will have no where to stay and eventually their brethren back home learn NYC is too difficult an environment for them.

Auntie Invasion: I remember that fire, I think it was on 66th or 67th
St, right across from E 292, R4 but
on the other side of Queens Blvd.
They were dispatched to a wrong address but that house was a death
trap with construction materials blocking the exits.

okay so what do we call them? the illegal job robbers?
the illegal rent stabilized apartment grabbers?
or the illegal jackpot baby machine?
what ever became of that big fire in Woodside, last year?
it was another defective certificate of occupancy. was the owner ever fined by the City Dept of Finance or fined in any way by the DOB?
the future of nyc is here:
illegal migrants
living in illegally converted residences
serving billionaires
and a middle class
that can no longer afford to live here
wages stagnant
taxes growing
rent/maintenance eating 50 percent of a working person's take home pay
elected officials driving the city and state to ruin
what has happened to my hometown?
