Bloomberg's whereabouts confirmed

From City Room:

Mr. Bloomberg and his aides refuse to talk about it. But the residents of Bermuda have taken no such vow of silence.

They say that Mr. Bloomberg’s plane arrived on the island, where he owns a large waterfront vacation home, sometime after midnight on Christmas morning. They spoke on condition of anonymity, for fear of inflaming the mayor and the local authorities, who prize discretion for visiting dignitaries.

Did anyone need to be told this? I wrote a comedy sketch on this several days ago. I'll post the link when it appears.

Any comments from people who voted for him because they thought that he was going to win?

I'm not one to defend the Mayor, but is he not entitled to a vacation? One of the traps of success is the all-compassing responsibility that can easily destroy one's personal life and leisure time. A snow storm is not supposed to be a disaster of epic proportions. He went away trusting those those who handle these kinds of situations were prepared to do so. Yes, he may have underestimated the severity of the storm, but that shouldn't be a death knell.

There's plenty to criticize the Mayor and the city for, taking a X-mas vacation is nowhere near the top of the list, IMO.

As if this was a one-time deal. He makes this trip on most weekends.

No one said he's not entitled to a vacation. But then be honest about it and say, I went away for the holiday weekend. I left so and so in charge, he or she screwed up and they're fired. But then he'd have to admit he only surrounds himself with incompentant yes-men and syncophants.

Are you pulling our collective legs? The issue is not whether he was on vacation or out of town. It was a huge failure of many city agencies who behaved like chickens with no heads. There was NO organization and the city suffered greatly. The man in charge got caught with his pants down. BLOOMTARD DESERTED US!!! And no one was prepared to take a leadership role. FAIL!

It is said that the Mayor of the City of New York is the 2nd most powerful person, after the President, in the United States. In these days, post 9/11, the numerous mysterious disappearance by the Mayor should no longer be tolerated. The December blizzard was the wake-up call.

Mayor Bonehead does it again! I'm watching the noon news and was disturbed by the stories of teachers, parents, and students who were flabbergasted that schools were open today. They expected a delayed opening or the day off. In one Bronx school, only 5 out of 43 teachers managed to make it in by opening time. One Brooklyn teacher was shown stuck in her Staten Island driveway!

Not being a parent, I'm not impacted by the opening or closing of schools. However, to make parents wait until 5 a.m. to learn about the opening is just plain mean. Furthermore, some schools closed early leaving parents in a quandry finding care for their children. Is this just me or does anyone else feel that the mayor isn't connected and just doesn't care about the citizens of New York City? He needs to be removed from office NOW before he can do any more damage!!!

I hope Bermuda takes his large waterfront vacation home via eminent domain.

Anon No. 18 --

You mean encouraging people to go to the theatre while their homes and streets were buried by the snow wasn't a great thing?

Bloomberg was hiding in Bermuda as he does most weekends via his Gulfstream jet or 747 for all I know or care.

At the end of the day he forced his 3rd term on us and he failed us miserably with his overpaid idiots in charge.

Stop vilifying the Sanitation Dept. its not their fault - these guy do take their jobs seriously/

Oops. My bad! :-(

Lazar. Erratum.

אױ װײ is pronounced "oy vey".
אױ גװאַלד is pronounced "oy gevalt".

Picture this scenario. Rumor is afoot in a shtetl of the Eastern European Pale that the Cossacks are arriving. A Jew living there would most appropriately say "oy vey". This term derives from the German expression "Ach! Weh!" meaning "Oh! Woe!" or even "Woe is me!" The Cossacks' FUTURE arrival definitely something to be worried about. [BTW Linguists have shown that Yiddish is most closely related to the southern Bavarian-Austrian dialect of the German language. Cf the Yiddish word "Yiddish" with the cognately similar German term "Jüdish".]

Now, back to the Eastern European Pale.

WHEN the Cossacks have arrived in the shtetl and they set all the houses afire, beating, raping, and pillaging, the shtetl's Jews would linguistically correctly utter not "Oy vey!" but the more dire "Oy gevalt". The "gevalt" meaning "violence". Again the Yiddish deriving this time from the German "Gewalt".

So, if a large amount of snow is predicted for the NYC region, residents can collectively sigh "oy vey" - especially with the track record of the Bloomberg administration.

When a city resident looks out his window and sees the NYC Sanitation Department towing a truck out of a snow bank and all the while continuously smashing that truck into a parked car in front, that resident would be correct in uttering aloud "oy gevalt!"

Dig? Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum. All day long I biddy biddy bum.

(Fill in the blank: This site is s-o-o-o _____________!)

We must conspire to obtain a pic of the mayor and his wrinkly waspy girlfriend in their bathing suits in Bermuda, what fun that would be to see!

Perhaps he will run for PM of Bermuda he qualifies by being Emperor of New York - similar experience. Take a perfectly good place and ruin it, rape and plunder it with cronys getting richer. Perhaps they could use green initiates by designating row boat lanes, alongside the ferry systems in Bermuda.

While I'm no fan of Bloomturd, he's entitled to a vacation. That's what the Deputy Mayor and his staff are for. When you have a tradgedy like 9/11, you come back to NY. You don't stay home for a snowstorm. I really think this whole thing is being over dramatized
