Mayor Bloomberg Updates Storm: MyFoxNY.com
MYFOXNY.com - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg updated the blizzard on Sunday afternoon.
Bloomberg said, "This really is dangerous."
The 13 minute news conference was held in a Sanitation Department building on the West Side of Manhattan.
Bloomberg appeared to be under the weather, and coughed several times as he delivered his message.
The mayor urged people to stay home but said if New Yorker's needed to go out, to use mass transit.
"Fortunately, this is a week many people take the week off from work anyways so tomorrow there should be fewer people commuting," Bloomberg said. New York City schools were already closed on Monday for the winter break.
The NYPD was also being deployed to look for dangerous situations, such as stranded drivers and downed power lines.
The FDNY was also adding a fifth man to all trucks for the night.
Mayor Bloomberg asked citizens to shovel out any fire hydrants in front of their buildings to aid fire fighters in an emergency.

Now we can see what kind of mess the new traffic islands will cause. Crosswalks will likely not be plowed properly, and some drivers will no doubt drive into unseen concrete islands, the placement of which is unintuitive to drivers.

As we speak the kids at Bryant were pressed into doing their "community service" credit by shovelling sidewalks. Some 40 kids. No snowblowers, but shovels.
Now this is after Bloomberg gutted the sanitation staff. If you can't exploit kids, who can you exploit?
I hope the parents whose kids are sent to the union busting job asks Vallone why he supported Bloomberg.

I remember when teens would come around and offer to shovel your drive for $20. Now they are too busy online or playing Wii.

I used to shovel it for them for free!
We knew about this blizzard since midweek and Bloomturd waits for the snow to start on Sunday to address it... snow is bad for business
