From the NY Observer:
"The world has not come to an end," Bloomberg said. "The city is going fine, Broadway shows were full last night. There are lots of tourists here enjoying themselves. Two people told me they went to the theater last night and afterwards tried to get into a restaurant and there was a waiting list. I think the message is, 'The city goes on.' Our Sanitation Department needs some help, they need cooperation. If you do that, things will get better much quicker."
Bloomberg encouraged New Yorkers to take mass transit and to continue to enjoy the city. But the mayor may have had his eyes on the tax revenues that will be lost if too many people stay home. His message was contradicted by some of those tasked with getting the city up and running again.
MTA Chairman Jay Walder said that the subways and buses will not be up to normal capacity, especially the lettered lines in Brooklyn and Queens, until some time tomorrow. And Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty said it would take at least 24 hours for all of the city's roads to be plowed.
Well thank God. My main concerns were the Broadway shows and whether tourists were enjoying themselves.
(At 8:30, Mr. Bloomberg makes up a new name for Juniper Valley Park...)

I haven't seen one snow removal truck come down my street, but I have seen several cars get stuck in the snow.
What an asshole. As long as his tourist dollars are coming in, who cares about getting the peons plowed out.
There definitely is something palpably different about the response to this storm. I do not see/hear the plows. Quiet all day except for one pass early AM, and I am on a truck route--88th Street off Cooper Ave.
These trucks have GPS tracking, right? It should be easy to find out where they are. I hope they make it over from Manhattan into Queens sometime soon.
That press conference was odd. The reporters tried to point out something--but no success. They do not challenge him. Why is everyone afraid to make this guy angry?
its like the reports i heard in 69 when lindsey didnt send any plows to queens
I know where your plow is...well one of them at least. One has been stuck on the corner of 70th and 69th street since at least 6am. As a result no plow has made it down 69th yet and no one has come to remove/fix the stuck truck all day either.
Lindsay could have done the job. Something is going on with DSNY.
I believe DSNY is retaliating against recent management demotions. You now have supervisors driving trucks and picking up the trash.
An investigation should be called for.
Like anonymous1, I've yet to see a plow go through my street.
Since sanitation is usually on top of such things, I'm betting that they let most personnel off for a long holiday weekend. And now, with all the vehicles stuck in the middle of the road, they are having a hard time with getting anything done.
And I have to wonder what the death toll will be at the end of all this - EMS crews can't make it to people who need them and even if they do, can't get through the streets to the hospital. With any luck at all, Bloomberg's cold will turn into pneumonia and do him in!!!!
"Jupiter" Valley Park, heh
"The bicycle lanes will be plowed before the streets. See? Your 90-year old grandmother can bike to the senior center tomorrow" - Janet Sadist-Krone
DSNY called in its troops Saturday night. There could have been some who called in sick, etc. But either way, Doherty's plan of attack has failed miserably and he needs to be held accountable. We usually have had good snow ploweing service from DSNY in the past.. but something went wrong this time. It's so noticeable.
Today is Sunday, February 9, 1969.........oh wait, it's actually December 27, 2010. Sorry, just such a sense of deja vu!
How much you wanna bet Forest Hills is PLOWED?
DSNY Commish Doherty is a Bloomberg puppet, the guy is like 74 yrs old, he should retire for good already.
Oh and his son is a crackhead, actually both of his sons are and one of them has extensive unexcused
absences from work.
Last night there was not one available ambulance citywide, many stuck in the snow. Engine and Ladder Co's were on scene for hours awaiting EMS to arrive or digging out ambulances. Several buildings burned in Brooklyn and Queens as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-due fire companies were not in service because of assisting EMS or people abandoning vehicles in roadways. The Mayor refused to declare a state of emergency. At 1am, FDNY dispatchers had 1,300 calls on hold with nobody to respond. Numerous people were having cpr done on them with no ambulances available for hospital transport, and Bloomberg refuses the aid of the national guard. He could have at least used them to dig out trains and buses. Your taxes at work NYC.
-Anonymous Fireman alerting the public
Heard Helen Marshall on channel 4 news defending the response (or lack thereof, but she didn't seem to see a problem with that). Oh, and she was stuck in her own house too. We should be patient and wait for the plows.
Fine, tell that to my boss, who lives in Manhattan and will have zero trouble getting to work tomorrow.
Bloomberg the biggest BUM going. He's a real bullshit artist. If I were Donald Trump & He worked for me .. sorry Bloomberg you're fired.
I have seen no plow truck around 42nd st and 50th ave area. i saw one stuck in the snow at 46th st and 47th ave. there was also an FDNY ambulance stuck at 48th st and Queens blvd. countless busses, tow trucks, limos and even SUV's. how am I gonna make it to work tomorrow? i work in Stamford, CT and I would need to make it into the city to take train if they do not plow! i am so worried about losing my job. Bloomturd.....what an ass....
Thank your city councilman for him and his third term.
You know he dropped the ball, but hell, you will elect your city coucilman for putting him there by 70 - 80 - 90% - so what is the issue?
As Boss Tweed used to day, "I want a Roman Triumph"
I live in glen oaks, there has not been a plow around here since last night. not one, none, 0
I walked through Forest Hills (along Metro mostly) mid-day and the only cross street that was plowed was 7st...looked like a real mess.
I actually walked up to Kew Gardens to shovel a walk, and for some reason they stopped plowing @ the Jackie Robinson--so up ahead through Kew Gardens to Leffert there were 10+ busses, as many or more cars...and it really looked like a plow never touched Metropolitan....which was odd because walking back to Glendale I saw a salt truck and 5 garbage trucks plowing East towards where Metro was closed.
Whitestone reporting in.
6:43 pm.
One plow viewed down the block at about 11:00 am. Gets himself stuck. Gets himself unstuck around 4:00 pm. Drives away.
Street remains unplowed.
Let's see how the next shift does.
The version NY1 didn't show you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDAmPIq29ro
All of Manhattan is clean, it appears our Mayor forgets that there are FIVE BOROUGHS in New York. What a disgrace, even the major roads have not been cleaned. What do our tax dollars go to? Mahnattan is clean except for some areas that the mayor wants to disown like he has done the rest of the city.
This is a total shame...
Alfredo
Bloomberg where are the plows in Queens? I hate to inform you but Queens is a part of NYC. You have no problem taking our money, but you forget we are here when it comes to providing basic services.
""The city is going fine.""
Going...going...GONE!
At least they plowed lefferts in kew gardens so the fire trucks could get to the medical transport van that exploded near the 7-11. Apparently it was the oxygen tanks. Blew out the daycare window and some apt building windows.
Drove from Whitestone to flushing to Jackson Heights, the service road of the Whitestone expressway, Northern Blvd, Astoria Blvd, the Whitestone Expressway, the Grand Central, NOTHING was plowed.
This is a disgrace, yet we the sheep will listen to the media circus and the spin, and we will nod our heads in agreement. They did the best they could.
Did you read the post by the Anon Fireman? I have several friends on the job as well as PD, and they all said the same thing.
Alfredo
New name for Juniper Valley park of course the moron doesn't know anything outside of Manhattan and Needham.
How about hiring off the sanitation list and putting people out to work!!! I live in Whitestone and no streets were plowed today!!!
Live in maspeth on 63rd st on the on top of the hill I'm saying no plows Thursday for us even thoughnthe garage is a block away
greetings from glen oaks
still no plows...
This asshole should be hung.
Yes Times Square, Theater district & bicycle lanes will be plowed before the streets because the asshole foreigner tourists are all in manhattan spending money.
I am sure Queens streets will be last on the list and solid ice by then.
Astoria: 1 plow that was not even plowing snow...
Perhaps more scary: only 1 car from the 114 on patrol. Good thing crooks are making money of shoveling because there's no one to stop anyone from doing anything out there right now.
Im in Manhasset snow blowing driveways right now. All the streets have been clear down to the black pavement since 12 noon. The Port Washington LIRR is running
As soon at you hit the border in Little Neck you see 3 foot wall of snow. Buses are even buried in there it looks like a gulag camp photo in Siberia
Snow piled on 67 RD, AVE and DR--Booth Street impassable thanks to 2-3 feet snow banks and stalled cars. Queens Blvd seems fine--that is it. Usually, we are the first ones to see snow plows...obviously, something different is going on.
greetings from glen oaks...
nothing, still.....
Maybe not having sanitation show up some times can be a good thing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt_r-jO3lKE
Everyone check out the webcam from Times Square.. it looks pristine.
http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/
fresh meadows reporting in - one plow late last night - since then, not a thing.
Now there is a 5-alarm fire in Queens. God forbid anyone is killed due to unplowed streets.
Goodbye Mr Bloomberg. And take your whiney voice with you!
Times Square and the Theater district are likely on that new Code Blue list the Mayor is not talking about.
There is an ambulance stuck on the street since last night - on a major bus street - no plows all day.
Thank you Peter Vallone for your support of Mayor Blumberg!
PS They did install bike racks on Broadway in Astoria last week.
Metropolitan Avenue from Park Lane to Lefferts is STILL lined with stranded cars and buses and of course hasn't been plowed. And forget about the side streets. The city really blew it on this one.
That video (wrecker pulling payloader) exemplifies the attitude of public service employees.
They put little to no thought in what they do and in the end they figure WTF, the union protects me from any penalty.
That video needs to go viral and get out on the local NYC news.
Hey Blabs! Forest Hills was NOT plowed until this after noon - when ONE truck passed my house!
Well well well it looks like you doormats got shafted again.
I want to see the Queens Machine distance themselves from the Mayor - and you dear people, letting them off the hook.
Go suffer. They did it because they know they can get away with it.
My brother in law just got home been working plowing he works for dsny told me compared to other years half the man power and union slow up cause bloomturd wants to do layoffs he said parts of maspeth schedulednfor Thursday and fri maybe later workin mainly forest hills and kew gardens
PS They did install bike racks on Broadway in Astoria last week.
.............................................
Phew! I'm glad all is not lost!
Anonymous is absolutely correct in calling everyone "doormats". Year after year goes by with all of them voting for the same members of the machine, the same family dynasties - blind loyalty to a bunch of idiots!! This is what we have to show for it.
NY1's The Call show is being flooded with calls and e-mails from other unhappy New Yorkers

Snowgate 2010. I don't know how Mayor Money is going to be able to spin this one.
Let's just see if it takes him a week to respond like he did with the 2006 Queens Blackout.
Broadcasting live,
http://ltvsquad.com/Blog/
The bike lanes and crosswalks in pedestrian islands will probably be cleared before many streets in the outer boroughs even see a single plow.
There are 5 MTA buses stuck in the street in College Point, Queens. They’ve been there for more than 24hours. The road is completely blocked and no signs of plows anywhere.
One block away, DOT trucks plowed all the roads around the Pepsi Bottling company--completely clear.
No plowing in North Flushing :-(
I'm gonna get plowed!
Snowgate 2010. I don't know how Mayor Money is going to be able to spin this one.
Let's just see if it takes him a week to respond like he did with the 2006 Queens Blackout.
---
Sure, its easy. In the Blackout you believed a batch of Albany and City Hall hacks when they told you they knew how to distribute energy better than Con Ed.
They will put the right spin on this blaming .... well something ... and when they do there will be a collective sigh of relief that a harmless culprit is blamed and you all can go back to sleep while the real bastards get off the hook .... again.
You will see - my words will be prophetic. They do this time and time again and you jerks fall for it everytime.
They play you all like a violin.
The reporters tried to point out something--but no success. They do not challenge him. Why is everyone afraid to make this guy angry?
I can answer this I worked at NBC.
Any reporter who dare upset the mayor will be put in thumbscrews by the media company they work for.
To add the mayors press secretary will revoke all news conference privileges or "passes" for the news company sometimes for weeks as a fine.
Its corrupt and out of control !!!
What a smug, pompous, idiot turtle face no good scum bag.
The resident's are at fault for blocking streets, what a liar all the newspapers and blogs show buses, sanitation, fire ambulance all stuck on their own.
Residents stuck on A train for hours & hours going home from work.
Other people unable to even GET to work.
911 response 1 1/2 hour wait for your heart attack.
The piece of shit should be impeached, THE WORST MAYOR OF ALL TIME.
http://www.astorians.com/community/index.php?topic=20118.15
A few whimpers, as expected. A passing reference to the Mayor.
Nothing about Vallone.
Which Ditmars is plowed and the area around DeMarco Park all will be fine.
It's not just Queens. Most of the streets in Brooklyn Heights haven't been touched yet. I haven't heard Marty the Mouth say anything yet.
The piece of shit should be impeached, THE WORST MAYOR OF ALL TIME.
---
Blame City Council. They were his enablers - and you believed them.
So eat it loser. There is not a damn thing you can do.
RE: Anon w/ DNSY brother in law.
Half the manpower.
Rank and file slowdown.
Truth be told.
Didn't hear Mayor Vlad mention any of that in his Press Conf. w/ that patronizing tone he emotes so well.
**reporters do not challenge him**
-They cant.
Try and get into a Bloomberg press conference without supplying his press secretary a list (and sticking to it) of the questions you intend to ask the mayor.
Has anybody seen a reporter that upset or insulted the mayor attend another press conference on live TV ever.

Bayside deadend streets alert......noplow ...noplow...noplow......10:10 PM Monday
auto's have to be able to turn in road to leave the side street for the avenue, to escape.
AVELLA,HALLORAN-BLOOMBERG, WHERE ARE YOU?????remember LINDSEY'S downfall.......
THIS FUKIN SCUMBAG MAYOR HESITATED TO CALL A STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEN THE TORNADOS HIT AND HE IS DOING IT AGAIN. ELITE PRICK IS SCARED TO SHOW THE THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD DOES INDEED, AT TIMES, NEED EXTRA GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE! THIS IS A DISGRACE. IF YOU EVER SHOW YOUR FACE IN QUEENS BLOOMIE YOU WILL SEE OUR RAGE.
QUEENS 5TH ALARM

Severely delayed Fire Dept response due to un-plowed streets and abandoned cars.
Fire is now throughout top floor and through-the-roof of a 6-story apartment building.
Best Mayor in the history of NYC.
-Anonymous Fireman
ne1 else feel that the "2,000" strong sanitation team is really much less than that with all of bloomies' cuts to the city?
BLOOMBERG DEMOTES 100 SANITATION SUPERVISORS TO SAVE $$$= SLOWER SNOW REMOVAL
Earlier this evening I saw on one of the crawls at the bottom of the screen that 311 is not taking reports of abandoned/stuck autos. Why is that?
Just now the 11 o'clock news reports that a FDNY crew responding to a fire had to first extricate a truck that was blocking the way.
If you live on a street that has a car stuck in the snow, you are in real peril tonight. Be afraid. Be afrid. Be very, very mad!!!
10:18pm and Metropolitan from Park Lane South to Lefferts Boulevard are still untouched. Metro from the Jackie/Forest Park Drive to PLS was done at some point last night because the streets are barely passable, but if five or six Q54 buses line up again, the street will remain unpassable, as it did all the way till about 11am this morning.
(Oddly enough, Park Lane South *has* been plowed, not that I saw any Q37 buses run through during my scouting today.)
I'm fortunate enough to have a job where this city's shitty response won't have any ill effects on me with my bosses, but there's no reason the working man should be put in a position to have to grovel to a boss because the city neglected to do its duty.
I also heard Helen Marshall on WNBC this afternoon. The woman is as clueless as they come. At least Marty Markowitz knows how to work a crowd, as horribly douchey as he is.
Bloomberg ought be ashamed of himself for defending this effort, but as he's always proven to be out of touch with the rest of humanity, I doubt he'll ever realize just how detached from his constituency he's always been. I can only thank Christ that, as of today, he can't run for a fourth term. (I know, I know, give that time...)
I'm excited! This is the most comment posting in a long time. Bloomtard's gotta go!
"Peasants. Be nice or I'll fly to Bermuda." - Michael Rubens Bloomberg
Bloomberg was just on WNYC says things are GREAT and to come see a Broadway play, come see "Spiderman" WTF ?
The city is going fine. Unless you're stuck on the A train for 6 hours. By the way, fare hikes go into effect Dec. 30. Just letting you know.
Where's my fiddle?
Where's my fiddle?
LMAO!!
A hilarious press release from the Department of Sanitation back in November reads:
"...the Department will be prepared whether only an inch or mounds of snow hit New York City."
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dsny/html/pr2010/111010.shtml
Silly Archie Bunker outer boroites !!
We artists, gardeners, bankers and bicycle lane advocates in the East Village have gotten our streets plowed every hour. No problems here. We love Mike!!! He’s our hero!!!
$700 million for hired experts and consultants and nothing to show for it. Ha. its only taxpayer dough.
Yes close the firehouses, senior centers and daycare programs. Who cares, they are services that only serve the lumpen.
Maybee they will finally move to Long Island or go away !
Maybee they will finally move to Long Island or go away !

Don't know if your statements are true but I do know one thing -
now matter how much they are shit upon they will faithfully return their shitters to office with 70% - 90% of the vote.
NY 1 kept on calling the fire in 'Queens' and spent 90% of their outer borough time in Staten Island.
No comparison of the boroughs or camera shots of the freely moving traffic in midtown.
Look at the bright side.
Maspeth and south the creek hasnt been this white since 1965 !
Bayside deadend streets....noplow....noplow....noplow...
tue.3:17 AM
where are you AVELLA...HALLORAN...BLOOMBERG.....? and now JOHN LIU....
You don't complain in the dark to get this Murdoch admiring media billionaire impeached my friends, you go to his press conferences, write him, and protest him loudly with other political groups who you assume voted for this liar which is not the case at all.
The other Koch Bros. admiring elite in Manhattan voted for this Wall st guy.
Little bloomberg always tries to pass the buck and everybody bitches about it in their corner which is not effective.
And yes Ive heard the same about the Sanitation Dept demotions. Also the word is that the sanitation dept is not hiring temporary snow shovelers at almost the third day of streets filled with snow.
The guys a master of B.S. like Nixon making others below him take the blame for everything.
Make the liar mad with his cold at the press conference and watch him trip on his words. He deserves it with all the police cars and city cars stuck all over the place in Queens and Brooklyn.
As long as the tourists can see Spider man right Mr.illegal third term.
But then theres idiots who will be mad when they plow snow and bury your car again without fail. Whats with all the pathetic drivers today also running red lights every block coming within two feet of pedestrians and people sweeping off their cars? Look up at the lights and pay attention to the road. Not that hard.
This is a JOKE of a cleanup. I live on a residential street with a bus line that runs through it. In the last 2 days, I saw about 10 buses get stuck and have to reverse about 6 blocks to get back on track. All because the 1st salt truck came by about 5 minutes ago. 2 DAYS after the snow started. SOMETHING WENT wrong here. I hope someone figures out what that was.
Don't worry, Spring is in the air. In a few days the tempurature will be in the high forties and the snow will melt on its own. then we can all go shopping to help keep this the greatest city on earth.
" Nero said...
Where's my fiddle?"
HAH!! The post of the YEAR Award!
Maspeth Mom says...
Plow goes down 61st Street from Maspeth avenue - Hits parked SUV not once but twice!!! Stuck for over 2 hours. Small backhoe came a dug it out. Then the plow left. Tuesday morning at 5AM still no plow.
Bloomberg "Let them eat snow" is a disgrace!!!!
fresh meadows here - 7:20 am tuesday. still not a plow. where are the amazing interchangeable weprin brothers? I bet they made sure daddy's street - saul weprin blvd, aka 188 street, got plowed. i wouldn't know since i can't get off my block!!
Set my alarm for 5:45am this morning. Was woken up to the sounds of plowing at 5:44am. Had to dig myself out for a second time. The side streets of Kew Gardens still aren't plowed, and Queens Boulevard is down to one lane south of Union Turnpike.
Y'know, I don't even wish bad things on Bloomy anymore. I wish them on everyone around him. Stupid out of touch billionaire. He'll be lucky to be remembered in the top 100 mayors of this city's history.
Is the Kock Bridge clean?
Can't wait for Jar Jar to relinquish emergency powers to him and.. oh wait, sorry.
Bloomberg talking about people going to the theatre is sort of like Marie Antoinette saying "Let them eat cake".
Caution advised to drivers trying to exit the northbound Whitestone Expressway at 141st Street. No plows since Sunday afternoon and a car (down from 2) parked in the middle of the intersection and only one lane for 2 way traffic! It's an accident waiting to happen. Thanks for the snow job!
50 hours and not a single truck on my block in Queens.
Great job, Shit heads.
Remember this on Election Day and start with the local shitheads in City Council and Albany.
This is what happens when the real estate industry bleeds the city white for services to maintain their artificial boom.
Its with taxes taken from your kid's mouths.
Seeing is believing!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXiRGFFoqYA
post your youtube videos here folks!
I just watched the mayor's noon press conference. I think HE's plowed!
I thought I heard a plow coming through at about 11 AM today. But I was wrong. It was a plow hired by Sonny's Auto Repair on Atlantic Avenue who built a ginormous mound in front of the Bamboo Garden (107 Street).
Scummy's - er - Sonny's was kind enough to clear the sidewalks - only to use the cleared area to park the cars that are waiting to be worked on!
I just saw a city snow plow /salt spreader come through. But, it neither plowed any snow or spread any salt.
Way to go, Bloomie!
Now Now boys and girls, I just had an Epiphany. Yes, this Holiday season I just had an Epiphany. You see, the Mayor has stated he would be and is the best Mayor this City has ever had. Well I ask all you Queens Folk, as well as all our Outter Borough friends. When One is on their way into Manhattan, what does one say? I am going into the ____. City? Yes , can't you hear it now? How many times have we said we are going into the "City",
So you see if our Mayor is meaning what we say then gosh darnit, is he not the best Mayor the "City" (Manhattan) has ever seen?

Previous comment by Mike Bloomberg.
Update from Kew Gardens -
118 Street still hasn't been plowed - not once! Two city buses remain stuck on Metropolitan Avenue since Sunday, motors running, flashers flashing and drivers inside.
Unfreakinbelievable!
The piece of shit should be impeached, THE WORST MAYOR OF ALL TIME.

Oh puhleeze! I'm a great money manager. I managed to take your tax money and put it in my friends' pockets. Booyah! Next year I'm going to put a toll on the Kock Bridge!!! Nyahahahahahahahahaha!
bayside dead end streets north to l.i.r.r. 12/28...10:pm.
a plow visited the area. NO SNOW WAS PLOWED????????
something is going on between the city union workers and the taxpayers???
ems vehicles stuck(fire dept.) buses stuck for days...fire trucks stuck, tow trucks towing plows crushing parked cars. subways stuck for 6 hours (mta)
l.i.r.r.with jammed penn. station commuters stuck for one hour.
mike quill, mta union leftist, must be laughing in his tomb. do you recall the recent m.t.a. slowdown on a holiday that gridlocked all of the streets entering and leaving manhattan?
this mess is not a coincidence.......
It's a ticking time bomb before the residents of this city get fed up enough and start a revolt. Storm the castle!
I was fed up enough this election season to actually take the time to research the candidates. Will you join me next season?
Rego Park/Forest Hills
Can't get to doctor's appointments, etc.
But, of course what is really important? Tourists getting to the Theatre and Restaurant.
Rego Park/Forest Hills
No mail Monday and Tuesday - First time in my 70 year lifetime.
Perhaps the mail deliverers went to the theatre.
Those buses stuck on Metropolitan between 118th and Lefferts are finally gone. Good to know it's becoming safer to have a heart attack in my neighborhood. Well, at least before they take you to Jamaica Hospital.
Bayside 3:00 PM Wed.....deadend streets north from northern blvd to l.i.r.r. FINALLY got plowed correctly ,so homeowners cars on snow cleaned driveways since Sun.nite, can exit the area.thanks to calls to" c.p.b.11 and Queens crap link" to D.O.Sanitation snow complaint site.
311 was not responding?????
Unfair of the Mayor to turn this into a DOS Job Action. The Buck stops with the Mayor Plain and Simple.
Also;
This appears to be the new Queens Blizzard trend: Plows come into Queens , plow a street, then 5-7 more follow within the hour!! Well I say TOO LATE. WE want a tax REBATE for LACK of SERVICES.
