Sadik-Khan strikes again!
From
CBS 2:
It’s pushback — with a capital “p” — for a dangerous traffic island in Borough Park.
In what has to be a series of firsts, the community board voted it down and a Department of Sanitation boss dared to say it could cause injuries and deaths.
Ladder 114 recently had trouble rushing to a fire because of a new cement traffic island installed in Borough Park. A backup caused by the traffic island forced an ambulance to pull into oncoming traffic to swerve around the barricade.
That driver was lucky. He made it to Maimonides Hospital two blocks away. But another EMT driver wasn’t. He told Kramer he was stopped dead at the intersection while racing to a patient who had stopped breathing.

Yeah, it's Marcia Kramer. Not exactly a prime example of a good journalist. This story, like most of the rest of them, is sensationalist and short on truth.
So what is the truth? Please explain.
This from the people that brought us a letter from Acting Commissioner Stanley Gee to Senator Padavan stating that if the 3rd avenue exit were to be closed off of the Whitestone Expressway, it would cause the last commercial exit to be the Cross Islan Parkway. These are people whose job it is to know what is going on and they send us this misinformation. Is it stupidity, or that they think we are stupid?
Since WCBS is apparently enjoined from telling you where exactly the offending traffic island is (why, I don't know), the report was done from Fort Hamilton Parkway and 46th Street.

Send Sadik-Khan back to Europe! Her anti-car ideas are no good here.
Crappy, I didn't make the original comment, but the truth is that ambulance travel on the wrong side of the road to bypass traffic fairly often in certain areas. And that firetruck that supposedly couldn't navigate the traffic island turned just fine with it there. And if it had to, I'm sure it would have run right over that traffic island. The TV news are a bunch of sensationalist whores who try to make stories out of nothing and use hearsay or quotes from dummies on the street to back up their nonsense. I'm not defending the new traffic islands, I cant stand them. But please don't look to the TV news for credible stories or any type of real journalism. We come to Queens Crap because the traditional news outlets are shit.
correction: ambulances
This just about the dumbest thing i ever hear. Sakid-Khan surely puts the "nut" into nutmeg!
Sadik-Khan and Bloomberg have blood on their hands.
