Janette Sadik-Khan now says that parking lanes are no longer for parking. They're now for outdoor dining. Because sidewalk cafes just aren't good enough anymore. I for one love the smell of diesel exhaust mixed with my meals.

Believe it or not in Europe there are streets that are closed to cars. Yes what a ridiculous waste: in Europe some streets are closed to cars and it is exactly these streets that have the most sidewalk cafes.

I'd venture that the majority of people who are dining outside are smokers and thus give a rat's ass about the exhaust fumes.
