From the Daily News:
A southern Queens neighborhood doesn't need to wait for Halloween for its house of horrors.
It's feeling the chilling effects of quite a few already.
South Jamaica residents raged at a meeting last week that four neglected houses have become hotbeds of prostitution and drug activity, turning fearful neighbors into captives of their own homes.
"You can't come and go as you please," said Tiffany Roberts, 23, who lives across the street from two abandoned homes on 107th Ave. near 154th St.
"The prostitutes and drug dealers just stand outside," she said. "They whistle at the kids walking by on their way home from school. They have dogs that'll attack you. We are prisoners here."
Girls walking to and from school are solicited by men in slow-moving vehicles, she said. The stench of urine and feces fills the air. She said she hears screaming coming from the homes, prompting calls to 911.
Asked if she would go outside at night, Roberts scoffed: "Are you kidding me? After the sun sets, you stay indoors."
Two people were killed just three weeks ago on the corner of 153rd St. and 107th Ave. - a block away from the abandoned houses. Willie Cobb, 28, and an unidentified female were shot to death while parked in a minivan, police said.
Vibrant! Diverse!

Yeah they want more cops, but wouldn't let us name a corner for a cop killed in the line of duty. They don't want us to stop&frisk their "young men".Fuck you,you can't have it both ways!
Who are "they?"
UM...we want you to stop the BAD guys, not random dudes walking down the street. But oh yeah, we ALL look alike. Maybe if you could tell the difference, people wouldn't mind the cops!
Sounds like a typical day in the 'hood to me.

When the random dudes walking down the street stop acting like the bad guys, maybe then they wouldn't get harassed.
Have some self respect, dress properly, and act properly. Separate yourself from the crowd and stop embracing thug culture. Acting like you are making a rap video wont get you very far.
Yeah, look at that Guzman who was shot with Sean Bell. The guy gets big bucks from the city as comp. He's in his 30's and still dresses like a thug: shirt hanging out and hat on backwards.

Yea because the violation of peoples constitutional rights is more important than safety?

What does the way you dress have anything to do with ANYTHING?
The Enron fat cats who swindled millions of dollars wore suits and tuxedos. Does that mean people who wear suits and tuxedos are all white collar criminals?
NO, there is no direct correlation!
Hey Geoergetheatheist, where's yo daddys Klan hoodie?
Bernie Madoff. #61727-054. Federal Correctional Institution, Butner, North Carolina. Scheduled release date: 2039
Vestis virum facit. (The clothes make the man.)
"What does the way you dress have anything to do with ANYTHING?"
Why do gangs wear "colors"; why do soldiers wear uniforms; why do physicians wear white coats?
Because how you dress has everything to do with how you wish to be preceived.

I think that the way people dress is of absolutely no relevance to the point of this posting.
The issue of people dressing like hoods should be addressed, to be sure, but it's going off on a tangent here.
The Queens Crap Blog site IS always going off on a tangent. Everyday new postings. This direction. That direction.
Which is why I like it so much. It wouldn't be as much fun if everyone stayed on the point. I just thought that I had to say something here.

Dress like a thug, get treated like a thug. No one, not cops, not women walking down the street, no one, can tell the difference between a thug in thug clothes, and a wanna-be-thug-look-a-like dressed like a thug. Stop acting like fools, and you won't be treated like fools.
White collar crime has nothing to do with thug crime. When thugs start wearing suits to do drive bys and deal drugs, we'll start worrying about not judging a book by its cover.
The Enron fat cats who swindled millions of dollars wore suits and tuxedos.
Really?
Who the hell wears a tuxedo to work everyday?
P-Diddy and Jay Z probably wear tuxedos more often than the "Enron fat cats" did.
The "Enron fat cats" more likely wore bland khakis and blue blazers.
The only people who wear flashy suits such as Brioni are "big hat and no cattle" types such as Messrs. Diddy and Z.........
As long as society keeps glorifying pimps, drug dealers, ganster rappers, and gangs. This sort of behavior will never end. People need to get educated and teach their kids right from wrong and the value of human life.

Perception and reality are so far from each other that your comment it absurdly invalid.
So if Jeffrey Dahmer wore a lumber jack vest while doing his killings now all of a sudden people who wear lumber jack vests are serial killers?
Racial profiling is highly UNCONSTITUTIONAL. ALL people who approve/support of it are terrorists, they exorbitantly hate America and the rights we were granted by it's/OUR fore fathers.
R.I.P: The constitution of the UNITED States of America.
So if Jeffrey Dahmer wore a lumber jack vest while doing his killings now all of a sudden people who wear lumber jack vests are serial killers?
No, but if there were suddenly a rash of 50 different serial killers wearing lumberjack vests while killing, that would be a reason to stop and frisk men wearing them. Which is exactly why if you look like a thug you get treated like a thug.
someone in your area must be the undercover source of information for the n.y.p.d. the reports have to be made anonymously so that no one ,even the police, knows who you are. do not talk about being an informant , even to your relatives.
use different pay phones,no finger prints etc, etc.
we did this in the 70's and the dealers of death were put away.
"Perception and reality are so far from each other that your comment it absurdly invalid."
Believe that at your own peril, my friend.
"Racial profiling is highly UNCONSTITUTIONAL." There are no degrees of constitutionality. Either something is constitutional or it isn't.
why are low income/poor neighborhoods in our boroughs not getting the same services that the rich areas get?
the fire hydrants don't work in this neighborhood either. And pit bulls are allowed to roam off the leash, are crapping on the sidewalks, their gang owners not picking up the crap but leaving it for old ladies and little kids to walk in.
why is the City letting our communities go to hell? You can get away with things in this part of Jamaica that would get you arrested really quickly in say, Forest Hills
Why is the City allowing drug dealing gangs to run these areas?
Are the beat police getting sales commissions from the drug dealers?
some people think that Bloomberg and his real estate cronies are letting the poorer areas disintegrate for two reasons:
keep the population under control via the violent gangs and renters will pay more for a clean, safe neighborhood to live in.
To the Anonymous poster who complained about a "street corner not being named for a cop killed in a line of duty" Perhaps you or "those" from your community never have to worry about cops harassing your kids, because you are afforded specific privileges, and your kids get sent home and not to the police station if stopped by the cops. If the bad cops didn't make it "bad" for the good cops, then we wouldn't have so much distrust between cops and the black community, as well as others. Yes they're suppose to serve the community and be examples of good citizens, but not when you have manjor complaints of unnecessary harassment to citizens. Many of whom in the surrounding areas of Jamaica, pay city taxes, and that's where the cops' salaries are paid from.
It is a shame that people want more police protection in their community, but when you have feelings of distrust about them, how can you feel they will really be there to protect you, based on that dept's history of excessive abuse that happens in specific communities?
Now before you go mouthing off, I am a sister of a retired police officer, who wasn't always treated right from all members of society, but he did his job and was one of the "good guys". Also, I remember that incident when that cop was killed, and it was very sad that it happened, and I had a friend in the NYPD who wsa part of securing the area, after that terrible incident.
Perhaps you should take a look at this week's issue of the "Voice" newspaper to see the behavior of NY's so-called "Finest". You have a good day.
why are low income/poor neighborhoods in our boroughs not getting the same services that the rich areas get?
----------------------------------
Economics says you shouldn't expect equal services, since you dont pay for them.
As it is the services you do get, while may not be to your liking, are costing more than the value you are putting back in.
Meanwhile, the services that i get being in a "rich" area, while may be better than what you get, are unfair to me because i am probably paying for more than i get in return.
In other words, you should be lucky for what you do get, as it is unearned, and its paid for at my cost.
You should be thanking me.
Why is the City allowing drug dealing gangs to run these areas?
Now, now. If the cops stopped every drug dealer looking thug walking down the street, wouldn't that be the aforementioned "highly UNCONSTITUTIONAL" racial (or any other kind of) profiling mentioned above?
Can't have it both ways, sweetheart. Either the cops are wrong for profiling, or the cops are allowing gangs to run the streets. Make up your mind.
First, respect yourselfs.
