Watch your step!

The scene at 64th Street and Grand Avenue.

Installation procedure:

1) Lay down crossing pad.
2) Remove plastic.
3) Take instructions with you.

(Janette Sadik-Khan apparently believes steps 2 and 3 are optional.)

This is part of a "Safe Streets to School" initiative, and making crosswalks more slippery and distracting people with reading material is part of that plan.

The people working for the contractor clearly cant read !!
Nor can the guy who signed of on that job.
- - That or he never showed up and falsified the papers.
This should be investigated

I remember when that little island was pretty and had lovely foliage. Now since the city extended it and changed the street traffic, it's an eyesore.

Sadik-Khan has an excuse for everything. These bureaucrats are dangerous people.

This is the most ridiculous intersection I have ever seen.It is confusing as hell. People dont know when they can cross the street. Cars dont know when they can turn onto Grand/Flushing. Trucks crash when turning. Signs are constantly knocked down. Traffic from Fresh Pond rd makes it ridiculously slow.

Whoever designed this intersection is a fuckin moron.

Sadik-Khan is just a Bloomberg puppet. Impeach the King and the trolls will scatter.

Hahaha, they did the SAME EXACT THING when they redid the corner of 80th and cooper across from Atlas Mall. The corner with those houses on it.

New curb cut. saftey pad. Didnt bother to remove the wrapper.

Lazy union workers once again.

"Lazy union workers once again."

This city does not hire union workers for this type of work. FYI. They haven't since Guiliani days. It is the practice of these agencies to take their bids from illegal unskilled workers that don't demand health benefits AND DECENT LIVING WAGES like YOU OR ME.

STOP THE UNION BASHING. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO THIS CITY. THIS CITY WAS BUILT ON UNION BLOOD AND GUTS UNTIL IT TURNED REPUBLICAN TRUST FUND SHIT LIKE YOU.

You get what you pay for.

Don't these crossing pads serve the same function as the strips by the edge of the subway platform, to let the blind know that they're at the corner? (Full disclosure: Republican, but not trust fund, dad was a carpenter.)

this is what happens when you hire illegal alien contract labor...who can't read or write and who don't give a crap.

My Grandfather was a carpenter and a union man and I am also a Republican and I'll "bash" any union that I want to. I'm a New Yorker and if you don't like that, tough

And thanks to the Union for "Labor Day". New Yorkers have been paying plenty for that "free gift" in the form of sky's the limit taxes ever since.

And thank you, Mr. QC for the freedom of expression herein. May God Bless you and your family!

Helen, you're clueless. Did you also vote for Bloomberg in ALL THREE ELECTIONS?

What did YOU do on your Labor Day? Work your 9 to 5? Or did you relax with the hubby in the Hamptons and have Mai Tai's on the verandaHHHHHHHHHH, DARLING?

Wow, such anger and ignorance over a sticker. Queens Crap's readership does it again.

I live across the street. Since they built the island they have extended it, then tore sections up and then refilled them. They have again torn up part of the island. This is how the contractors keep milking the city and why our taxes keep getting higher and higher.

Can someone tell me what the heck was wrong with the island to make them tear it up again a few weeks ago? BTW, ITS STILL NOT DONE!
