From the NY Post:
About 1,000 more Queens households than usual still had no landline phone service 10 days after storms tore through the borough, officials said yesterday.
Verizon estimated that 2,000 Queens customers had no working landlines. That's about double its normal number of outages.
The officials attributed the delay to downed trees and phone lines still hampering restoration.
Verizon normally has 1,000 landlines down in Queens? Sheesh...

Verizon doesn't care about landlines anymore, only wireless accounts. Unfortunately the majority of landline users are senior citizens who have been left without service. Verizon was the only utility who didn't send out any workers the weekend following the storm.
Does anyone think FIOS will be rolled out into queens within this century???
....one ringie-dingie
I think Verizon should be fined for age discrimination. Most seniors have landlines. They are paying for a service that they are not receiving. Many people still have landlines and depend on them. Where is the Public Advocate? Is anyone listening? I'm selling my Verizon stock. This company sucks. Are you listening Ivan Seidenberg (CEO)?
Anyone in Queens still without landline phone service due to the storms? I'm a tv reporter covering the issue. I'd love to talk to you. Email me with your phone number.

Call the PSC in Albany. File a complaint. You will have your line fixed immediately.
Verizon has been decimated with retirements this year. They have not hired field technicians in over 5 years and there are no plans to replace the staff that is gone. The outside forces are severely undermanned and without back up support from the inside managers because whoever is left in management are newbies without the experience to help solve problems. Seidenberg has been neutered by the old GTE southern & midwest old guard and this has caused the Northeast states to suffer because of this.
And to make matters worse, most technical help for customers has been outsourced and are in the Phillipines and India now and have no clue as to help the consumer.
Sign o' the times.
