From the NY Times:Eduardo J. Martí, Queensborough’s president, calls it “an academic Ellis Island,” a place that is open to all, where immigration status means nothing.
“We make a point not to ask about it, and we are proud of it,” said Dr. Martí, who came to New York City from Cuba alone in 1960, at age 18.
He estimated that 1,000 illegal immigrants are probably enrolled at Queensborough at any given time.

I don't understand how a non citizen can get federal student aid.. You have to have papers that show your taxes. Since they don't pay taxes (being that they are illegal) how can they provide tax papers?
Unless QCC now accepts fabricated/false tax papers.

This outrages me. I just finished my first year at Q.C.C and i did not like it. FFS we can't let such progressive liberals be placed in positions of power like Marti. I will be x-fering from that such by the next year. In the campus library we have a bill-board about "QCC Celebrating its 50th anniversary and Multiculturalism". This is what he wants MC. But the illegal way. Its time we give all the disgusting progressive incumbents the boot and go the same way other states have gone through the previous primaries/elections.

Yeah, but they know the difference. It's a smokescreen that obscures the true rolls and headcounts that garner funds. It's a magnificent con. There are solutions to habitual corruption, but none of them are civilized.
going to queenborough college is worse than being deported.
I thought you can come legally in the country as a foreign student. If you get admitted to a US school you go to the consulate in your country and get the visa.
QCC can at least make the effort to legalize the illegals by making them go back to their country for student visas. If they can afford to come here illegally, they should be able to afford a roundtrip back to their countries for a visa.

You only need to file taxes if you make over a certian amount each year. So if you work off the books then you do not need to file.

most"students " never pay their nominal loans back to get their "education "there.
most n.y.c. high school pupils who "graduated" go to these schools to improve their third grade level math and english language arts skills.
Your tax dollars at work! The government should add up the amount of tuition of all illegals and withold that amount from the aid we give to their respective countries. Why should American taxpayers pay for illegals? We can barely afford college tuition for our kids, who by the way are citizens of this country. When is our government going to stop rewarding bad behavior? No wonder these illegals come here in droves. It's lucrative for them. Free medical, housing, food stamps, education and now college education. I bet I wouldn't get that if I lived in Mexico or the Dominican Republic. The sad part is the college is boasting with pride about this. Talk about sticking it to the common man.
Marti should be arrested for aiding and abetting criminals and committing fraud against the taxpayers.
Here's a solution: anyone who is not here legally as a citizen or permanent resident should be charged the same tuition as international students.
Keep CUNY open to illegals, but make them pay for breaking the law.
