Charlie looks for one more win

From the NY Times:

Suddenly, the genial, gravelly voiced prince of Harlem became a symbol of malfeasance and self-dealing Washington insiderism. Republicans talked of building their midterm election strategy around him. Democrats returned his campaign contributions. And Mr. Rangel, 79, relinquished the chairmanship of the powerful Ways and Means Committee.

But back in his Congressional district, a very different attitude has emerged: a fierce determination that Mr. Rangel, whatever his transgressions, should end his public life on his own terms and be given one last term.

“When it’s time for him to go, he will make that decision,” said Jackie Rowe Adams, 62, a Parks Department employee and union local leader who grew up in Harlem. “He’ll leave gracefully.”

“That time,” she said, “is not now.”

Wrong, lady. When it's time for him to go, the VOTERS will make that decision. That time very well may be now. He may leave gracefully or he may be sent packing. I'm hoping for the latter.

He is a corrupt politician, but he is also a guy who won the Bronze Star. That justifies nothing he has done as a politician, but these shenanigans mean a lot less than what he has done in the trenches.

I hate his manipulating, corrupt double dealing politics, but he should be retired by his Party. But the Dems have no dignity, so they will parade him out there until he is done.

Charles Rangle's time is long overdue. He should bow out gracefully right now. Instead he wants to over stay his welcome. Why won't the republicans or democrats force that old bastard out? It is sickening to watch him still trying to hold on to his lofty position.

Notice how The Times completely ignored Michael Faulkner, the local Republican seeking to oust Rangel.

The elitist reporter probably assumes that a Republican has no chance in Harlem, so he is not worth mentioning in the story.

The only way we will ever get rid of this guy is if he dies. He consistently gets voted in because his peeps in harlem think he's great. I just don't get it. He's a criminal and should already be in jail. The residents of harlem need to smarten up and send someone new to Washington.
