I found out that Lola the dog is back with her rightful owner. The people in possession of the dog handed it over last night at the McDonald's on Myrtle in exchange for the promised $500 reward.
I forgot to mention that the ending would have been much nicer if the people who returned the dog didn't take the reward (or at least not the whole amount).

---------------------
In most cases i would agree, forget the reward, but in this case, it might be to cover the money they spent to buy the dog from the pet shop.
As I understand it, from an article in the free weekly The Forum, they got the dog for free from pet store Metro Puppy after someone else had found the dog and given it to Metro Puppy. Very strange.
What did Metro Puppy do that was prohibited? Someone turned in a lost dog and they found it a home. Now it is back with its original owner. Crappy dont be so quick to condemn! You didnt go over there and do an interview or investigation either? So you, as the rest of the blog readers dont have all the facts.
They SOLD the dog without papers and without checking its ownership. The original story is 100% correct. This bullshit about people overhearing the woman who came in with a sob story and taking the dog from her is just that. BULLSHIT.
The guy in the pet store told the owner that he sold the dog, he repeated that to a friend of mine who went to help. The free adoption story only surfaced when the papers started calling. Then the pet store people called the Daily News repeatedly and threatened to sue when they saw their names were printed.
Yeah, it's me that doesn't have all the facts.
Metro Puppy will be finding out what they did wrong soon enough.
Metro puppy is a puppy mill shop. STOP funding cruelty. there are beautiful dogs and puppies for adoption in ASPCA and other rescue groups which you can easily find in petfinder. Stop this madness of buying genetic inbred dogs from puppy mills. it is wrong. respect life.
Once again you've done a great service for doggies and the borough of Queens.
Some of you may remember that my dog Parker ran away on New Year's. Within hours, Queens Crap had him posted up and the Crapper was scouring the dog lover posts to see if there was any information that could possibly lead to his return.
After less than one day, the Crapper got a tip that he might have been picked up by CACC and brought to Manhattan. Even though the description didn't match his vitals, I was encouraged to check it out.
At CACC, I had a hunch Parker was there after standing by the reception desk for 90 seconds, because I was pretty sure that his collar was sitting there - MINUS HIS TAGS!!
Long story short, he was there, I got him back - tags and all - and all is well. However, I have one big question:
Why didn't CACC just call my vet, as Parker's rabies tag was on his collar with my vet's phone number? Why the heck did they take off his collar and his tags in the first place??
If CACC had just done that, there would have been no need for guesswork at all.
Luckily, it was mere incompetence rather than a puppy mill selling a lost dog...the owners of Metro Puppy should fry for that.
Kudos to the Queens Crapper and congratulations on getting Lola back!!
And here's another tidbit of info the news reports omitted...
The guy in the pet store said that if fliers were posted on Metro between 71st Ave and 75th Ave, the owners would see them and call. So they knew who bought Lola but decided not to tell the owner.
Maspetht mom says... When I was a kid my sister and I took a pregnant stray in from the streets. She was all black so we called her Spooky. After about a year she ran away. Someone said they saw the ASPCA pick her up - so my dad drove us to the ASPCA in Jamaica. The dogs that had come in the day before were already in a holding cell for "Gassing" The man wouldnt let us see them. Even thought we thought out dog was there. My dad a LEGAL Polish immigrant didnt argue - we walked away. I am sure our dog was there and died uselessly. We never saw her again.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap

I'm so glad that there is a happy ending to this story.
