From NY1:
The mayor's office says it will not release a list of fire companies it may need close to help meet its budget, until the state gets its finances in order.
In his budget proposal, Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed eliminating 20 fire companies, and he set a deadline of today for the New York City Fire Department to decide which companies to shut down on July 1st.
Today the mayor said no decisions will be made until the state budget has been approved. The state budget is more than five months overdue.
Sixteen fire companies were targeted for closure last year, but were then spared when the City Council restored funding.
