NYPD making up violations everywhere

From the Riverdale Press:

Clare McCartney was driving along West 239th Street on Feb. 15, in Riverdale, trying to find a parking spot amid the mountains of icy sludge left over from the previous week’s snowstorm.

Her elderly mother, Annie Chambers, was in the car with her.

Ms. McCartney pulled into a bus stop long enough to let her mother out, when a traffic enforcement agent pulled up next to her and told her to put the car in park.

When she tried to explain that her car had technically not been parked, the agent told her that was no excuse and proceeded to write out a $115 ticket for allegedly leaving her vehicle unattended at a bus stop.

In the complainant’s comment on the ticket, the officer wrote, “no driver.”

“I was disgusted with this woman. My mother is a 78-year-old woman and that was the only safe place to let her out because of all the snow,” Ms. Cartney said.

Actually, you are allowed to pick up and discharge passengers at bus stops:

Traffic Rules, Chapter 4-08(c)(3) states:

No person shall stand or park a vehicle other than an authorized bus in its assigned bus stop when any such stop has been officially designated and appropriately posted except that the operator of a vehicle may temporarily stand therein for the purpose of expeditiously receiving and discharging passengers provided such standing does not interfere with any bus about to enter or leave such zone

Let's continue:

While there have not been any similar cases reported recently, Lawrence Cooper, an attorney who runs a law office on West 231st Street near Broadway, told The Press he had been ticketed three times in January and February for not following alternate-side parking regulations along a portion of Albany Crescent.

But the Department of Transportation had suspended alternate-side parking regulations on that stretch, as well as in other locations in Board 8.

The DOT has changed approximately 3,600 alternate side signs throughout Community Board 8, reducing alternate- side parking from twice to once a week. Mr. Cooper said he should not have been ticketed while parked on Albany Crescent because regulations were suspended.

On March 6, he received a letter from the NYC Department of Finance informing him he no longer had to pay off one of the tickets in question.

she should call 911 on corruption charges. I wonder what the qualifications are to be a traffic cop.

Because the white people are often of legal status, part of the system, and will more often than not, pay the fines.

Everyone else has the ability to hide in the woodwork and skip payment.

Enforcement knows where the better chance for payment is, and where not to waste their efforts.

So people don't abuse them like they did when they were "brownies."

Your attitude sometimes really clouds the point here, Crappy.
