I don't know anything about Teddy other than the fact that he's no longer with us. He apparently was either a dumbass thieving coward or quite a ladies' man, depending on whom you ask.
Also no longer with us is this strip club that sits in the shadow of the LIE. More than likely, the recession hurt it and the Borden Avenue Bridge reconstruction put the final nail in its coffin.
But as I stood here, I found it rather appropriate that Greenpoint's Shit Tits were highly visible from the site of the former titty bar. These photos were taken New Year's Day in lands where Tower People fear to tread.

That writing has been on there for at least six months having gone past there on the way to work often before the bridge closed.
Yes I wonder if the Gantry park apathetic yuppies know that area at all or even if they know there food is delivered from Borden at Fresh Direct. Take a walk around there back a few blocks water front folks to see how dirty your facade really is below your cookie cutter high rises.
The bridge has been closed since December 31, 2008.
Haha, it only said "R.I.P. Teddy" for the longest time, thats hilarious.
Yes we know it there, that's why we are building developing and expanding beyond the waterfront. It will take time, but gentrification cures all ills. Years ago, you could have found that sign by the waterfront. Now its all cleaned up and nice.
"Now its all cleaned up and nice."
Ha ha ha ho ho ho hee hee hee
If you like living in a brownfield, maybe. It took several years to clean up Phelps Dodge just so it could remain industrial. It took 8 months to clean up Queens West for housing.
Enjoy your chemo treatments.
Re: Chemo treatments.
Astoria is rife with cancer and this area will be worse. Why? Multiple superfund sites.
I have a great use for the waterfront. Build nothing, convert it into parkland for day use only or keep it for parking lots or industrial or shipping use. Anything to avoid longterm exposure of growing children.
I have privleged knowledge that Queenscrapper's mother has bough a college in one of the towers.
It's a memorial for Ted Kennedy?
Holy crap, that could be it! When Pope John Paul II died, there was a similar sentiment spray painted on the Terra Cotta building on Vernon...
