Listen to the 109 & 111 live

Good evening, I have been reading your blog now for almost a year. Love it. So much shit goes on in our area and people have no idea. Well now they do thanks to you blog. I tell everyone I know to go to it.

If you have time and are interested maybe you could post something about my audio feed I provide for radioreference.com its a 24/7 live stream of the 109th/111th pct. I run this off my home server at no charge I think it's a great tool to letting people know what is going on in their area. You can listen to it here.

If you dont hear anything its cause they are no transmitting at the moment but give it a little bit and you will hear something.

Is there a point here to this posting?

The 109th precinct.... I thought that place was the gateway to hell.

My thoughts is that the more the police are scrutinized by the area residents the better. It's like this daily Queens Crap blog - it's valuable, convienient, current and allows us espression encourages interactive debate on the issues that affect us where we reside. So the new outlet is something that enables us to check out and use if you find it effective. Why not?

My thoughts are that if they are surrounding a terrorist compound in Flushing somewhere - it would be wonderful to not tip the terrorists off.

The ONLY people who would find this "effective" are the bad guys.

You can buy a scanner at radio shack, Babs.

You think the terrorists don't know this?

Doesn't seem to work for me. Feed status is offline.

I don't like this . . . at all.

Now Big Brother is watching the police. We are in trouble.

Once again, the feed is the same thing you can hear on a scanner. Scanners have been around for decades. Everything said over these feeds is public info. I can't believe you all don't know this stuff.

Why doesn't the NYPD use encrypted digital radio? I think I know the answer.

This is my feed and it to inform people not to aid criminals

LOVE IT! Thank you!

Criminals have been known to use police scanners and the reason the NYPD doesn't use digital encryption (which they realy should) is the city doesn't want to spend the money on it.

Cav:iab, hostage negotiation, and a few citywide channels used for certain investigatory units have been encrypted for years.

Stuff involving Joint Terrorist Task Force and what not are not able to be picked up by the everyday scanner.. so your not tipping off anyone

If we had this for the 104 pct. you would hear, nothing cause they do nothing. Dead silence -

If I were a cop in the 104 precinct, I wouldn't do anything either. Bunch of jerks living in that area.

can you pick up other people's phone conversations with the scanner?

You can not only buy a scanner but get all the info you need to unlock it on line.
All OTC scanners that come into the USA must have certain frequencys blocked. To restore them(modify)it usually involves just snipping a diode, adding a jumper or cutting a PC trace .
A cheap Bearcat 60XLT can be had on Ebay for as little as $20

----------------------------
You could on the old FM VHF and UHF ones.
(The ones with the big bulky antennas made in the late 80s and early 90)

Radio systems in cordless house phones now operate more like cellphones transmitting packets hopping through several frequencys in the Ghz (microwave) range much like Bluetooth and Wifi

Those frequencys are blocked or simply not available in in your typical "Radio Shack" general coverage grade scanner.

You would have to go big $$$ on Icom, Motorola, Yaesu commercial grade gear.
By law you also need a 1st class FCC license to work on it.
The system is more secure and complicated then what the cops and DTs use

if you had a scanner feed of the 104 precinct on the 4x 12 tour you would hear jobs coming over every 5 minutes and every sector car in the precinct holding onto the maximum allowable jobs (which is 5)and then as soon as they give one back recieve another one. Must be nice to be so critical of things you have no idea of.

Queens Crapper said...

Exactly. That's why you can never believe them when they say they've responded to a 311 call within 30 minutes of you calling and didn't find anything.

Anonymous said...

They might not respond to the 311 call within 30 minutes, but that is likely because they are busy responding to more serious calls. They are cops not Dominoes delivery men. In order to satisfy the 311 requirements in this city, 2 things need to happen;
1. Hire a hello of alot more cops, because their numbers are dwindling with every day that passes.
2. Make other city agencies accountable to 311 jobs that pertain to their duties. They can't keep passing the buck to the NYPD. For all the complaints about the local precincts not answering the phone, the NYPD is still one of the only agancies in this city that can be reached by other means, the 911 and 311 systems. It isn't fair to them that alot of their calls are better suited for other city agencies, but the police get stuck with them because the other agencies do not answer their phones.

Yes, they are responding to more serious calls. But they enter into the system that they DID respond to your call. I would prefer they show that they are understaffed rather than lying to make their stats look good.
