City Planning maintains that it has a longstanding policy to not rezone districts from manufacturing to residential if they are currently occupied by manufacturing uses. - from "Auburndale rezone moves up" Times Ledger
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Oh man, that was a good one.

I wonder if there is proof anywhere that they DID in fact rezone a maufacturing zone into a residential in the past in another area. Maybe that info could be used against City Planning.
LIC, Greenpoint-Williamsburg, Willets Point.
I could go on...
Ok then John Young's goose is cooked. Station Rd should get what they want and really dig their heels in about this. I really believe the R2A proposed for Southeast Auburndale was a given all along and CP is making it look like they are compromising by "giving" the community an R2A as opposed to the R3X they originally proposed.
City Plannin is up to their old tricks as usual.
If the community wants a residential zone for Station Rd. then they should get it. So sick of the games they paly with our communities. They should rezone it residential just for the mere fact that they've had to wait all these years for this to happen.
In the end wealthy business owners always seem to win don't they.
Fact of the matter is, if the area is not a designated Industrial Business Zone, the city can support a zoning change.
City planning has got its head so far up the Community Board asses that their brains have died from the lack of oxygen. Why else would they rezone sections of northern Maspeth to R4-1 when the building located there are all three story fully attached town houses. Normally this would be an R5 infill zone, when not in the land of bizarro world.
