Same tired shit may run for different offices

From the Times Ledger:

Regarding Paul Vallone’s political future, we will be finding out during the next few months whether he will run for political office in 2010. He cannot run for the state Assembly seat in the 26th Assembly District, which is currently represented by Assemblywoman Ann-Margaret Carrozza (D-Bayside), since he lives in the 25th Assembly District.

Paul Vallone does live, however, in the 11th State Senate District represented by Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose). There is a possibility he may decide to run for that seat against Padavan. His campaign headquarters on Francis Lewis Boulevard is still intact and ready to go if needed. He has also indicated he intends to move his law practice to Bayside and use his former campaign headquarters as his law office.

As for Iannece’s political future, he also does not live in the 26th Assembly District, but in the 24th Assembly District, which will become an open seat leading to a special election in the early part of next year when Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D-Little Neck) resigns from that seat to take his elected position on the City Council.

His brother, Councilman David Weprin (D-Hollis) is also considering running for the Senate against Padavan. If David Weprin does not run for the vacated 24th Assembly District seat, it would seem Iannece would be the leading Democratic candidate. A major factor in that selection process, however, is who the county Democratic Party endorses.

It seems like some people are set on living off the public dole as politicians no matter what capacity it may be in. You need to thoroughly understand the workings of these legislative bodies before you throw your hat in the ring, not just throw a dart at a board and see what office you're going to run for. At least that's how it should be. As we can see, it's not the case. The perks are just too lucrative and brains often are not required.

Well, I agree it's the same names running for these mysterious State offices. No one else wants to! Who would want to travel or live in Albany? Who would want to work in the worthless NY State legislature (what exactly do they do?). No surprise. These offices mean little to downstaters, but someone has to fill the hole.

Its not just the albany seats that have this problem. Its most public offices.

If someone has a lot of determination, or skill, or intelligence, why would they want to be in public office?

Life is always far better in the private sector.

the best and brightest DO NOT go into office.

I noticed Vallone's campaign headquarters on Saturday when I went into the Subway shop across the street, and wondered the same thing: Since the storefront is still full, he either signed a long-term lease or plans to run for something in 2010. However, since he endorsed Bloomberg for Mayor and flirted with the Republicans, I can't see the Queens Democratic Party backing him in any race until he makes amends.

All politicians should have term limits. If it's good enough for the President of the US, it should be good enough for these little locals. They get paid a ton of money and lots of developer money and added perks, so they don't want to get kicked off the gravy train. Time for all of them to do their public service and get a real job in the private sector.

ah, the Queens Democratic Party supported the 'Turd.

They are no longer the party of lofty ideals or committement to John Q Pulbic like in the days of Roosevelt or even Kennedy.

They are into making money and tweeding.

Remember, Jose and Maria make great tenants, even better workers, need to be tweeded with public monies, and dont complain much.

And lets not forget the organizatoin's deep commitment to turning over your taxes and your community to the needs of developers (in exchange for favors like donations and the like.

The Developers have a gaping appitite for projects to pay for their wives' pool-boy romances and their daughters' whoring it up in Bermuda.

Vallone could run for the 25th district and could do well. He'll have money and the support of our somewhat-less-than-honorable mayor.

Iannece embarrassed himself and the party by being the best endorsed candidate in the race and losing to Kim in the primary. This was Iannecce's 3rd try for the City Council seat, he's done.

Corroza's seat is probably wide open. Of the 19th district candidates Behar is from that area as well as Kim. Either could make an interesting candidate. Kim probably wouldn't want to be shuffled off to Albany though, it's a dead end politically. He's to well connected to end up there.

It is not easy to run for office. It requires signing a million different forms, with every "i" dotted and every "t" crossed.

It requires thousands of valid signatures.

It means having a good lawyer to defend you against the party clubhouse's petition challenges.

It means having an army of loyal volunteers, or a union willing to give you its volunteers.

Finally, it means having enough money to pay the required fees, advertising, and legal bills.

If running for office were easy, Crappy would come out of his anonymity and toss his hat into the race, too.

come on jerk, and even if you get elected, the septic envirnment of politics you bottom dwellers live in will taint anything there.

look how tony a tried to clean things up, and if you talk to the average citizen and mention his name, they will be not be sure, but they will get a hazy look in their face and say something negative about him.

something in the mountain of bile clubhouse run papers threw at him got through to the pubic.
