Mother and son found dead in Corona closet
From Eyewitness News:
The bodies of a woman and her teenage son have been discovered in a closet at a Queens apartment.
Police haven't released the names of the 55-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy.
They said that officers responding to a 911 call on Saturday found the bodies inside the apartment on 111th Street in the Corona section.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown tells the Daily News that officers were called to the apartment after a man told a co-worker that "he had cut the throat of his wife."
The city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
No arrests have been made.
More from the NY Times:
The man, Otto Herrarte, 48, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder after he was questioned at the 115th Precinct station house on Northern Boulevard, the police said.
During questioning, Mr. Herrarte, a cleaner at a Manhattan hotel, indicated that he had killed his wife and son by slashing their throats on a mattress on Friday before he hid the bodies, the police said.
The police said they were called to Mr. Herrarte’s apartment by one of his co-workers, who dialed 911 about 12:54 p.m. to say that she was with Mr. Herrarte and that he had told her about the bodies.
Earlier in the day, the police said, Mr. Herrarte had asked the woman to join him in taking the 15-year-old to a relative’s house.
The woman did so and returned with Mr. Herrarte to the apartment, where he told her about the bodies in the closet, the police said. It was in the apartment’s living room, which was also serving as a bedroom.

Rest in Peace.
tell me that he's another illegal alien who had arrests for domestic violence in his country of origin.
where are all the people who helped him stay in the US now? where are the open border idiots now?
will the local politicians who cater to illegals be at his wife and son's funerals?
I know the surviving 15 year old, he's a very good friend of mine. His name is David Herrarte. He was already battling anger issues, but I can't imagine what it must be like for him now.
i think that the mistress has something to do with the crime, they are lovers and they loved each other,at least that's what they said, plus she was getting money out of him, poor wife, she had lupus.a real tragic.i'm very sorry to hear that.
a otto herrarte co-worker.
One thing for sure...Corona ain't the place where I'd want to live.
Gangs like "MS 13" call it home and drug deals go down constantly.
"Spaghetti Park" is safe at night but don't wander too far alone.
Bless those old school Italian mafia dons who still protect Corona Heights.
dam this kid is in my school. r.i.p nd for his brother.....god is going to b on your side from now on
