Department of Bumbling strikes again!

City workers let junkies ransack house
By ALEX GINSBERG, NY Post

Bumbling city Buildings Department workers marked the wrong Brooklyn house for demolition, ordering the lock snapped and allowing thieves free rein, a lawsuit alleges.

"They left the premises unsecured, for all the druggies and homeless to just walk in and help themselves, and they did," fumed Martin Senzer, 66, who lived in the house at 3044 Brighton 1st St.

Senzer's nightmare began in January 2008, when the house immediately next door to his, No. 3048, went up in flames. The city decided it had to come down.

"The inspector . . . who is either legally blind or an imbecile, put my address down," said Senzer.

Frantic calls to the city from Florida, where Senzer lives half the year, got the problem fixed, but not before National Grid and a plumber clipped the lock to get in and shut off the gas and water -- standard procedure before a demolition.

By the time Senzer made it up to Brooklyn, he found his family silver and his rare-coin collection -- maintained since he was a boy -- gone.

"The house was so badly tossed," he said. "It was ransacked. Mattresses were standing up off the bed. It was a horror. I cried tears when I came."

The Buildings Department referred questions to the city Law Department, which declined to comment.

I would kill the inspector who is responsible for this!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of incompetent individuals work for our City? The worse kind, and the City should be sued to high heaven and lose so that the home owner can be compensated over and above his losses and to deter this from ever happening again.

Even better was the people who lost their entire house when a builder next door toppled a poorly-built retaining wall onto it and demolished it.

They had to leave immediately with all of their property in the house that was demolished.

All of the surrounding streets had to be secured by the police and fire department for fear a passing car or pedestrian would take the structure down on top of them.

THIS HAPPENED IN ASTORIA--VOTE THE VALLONES OUT.

Of course they won't comment. And the Commissar, who manages both DOB and the City Law Department, will see to that that the ransacked home's owner Martin Senzer is brought up on charges of "enabling" junkies.

Then he will promote everyone at DOB who followed his instructions to open this man's home to homeless junkies.

Here's some news: The election was two weeks ago.

Yes, I know it was two weeks ago, I was there and I voted. However, we have a "permanent government" in New York.

We will definitely have another whack at that dynasty.

How any DOB inspectors are from the Caribbean or Russia?
are there any American DOB inspectors?

What does it matter if the inspector is from the Carribean or Russian? Lack of common sense or intelligence can be found in any race! You should be ashame of youself!

Very strange situation here;

Owner in florida leaves his prized possesions behind ?
Complaint comes in as "house next door".
Fire next door ?
The city picked up the tab for demo by the way.
House sold to that neighbor, 3 russians that live in an apartment on Surf ave., for $500,000 where now they combined both lots to erect 6 story cummunity facility.
Now the City (tax payers) will get sued.
Guess who picked up the tab for this nice little arrangement.
