I guess cutting the ribbon on a supermarket was not enough to win over Rockaway.
It's a shame what was done down there. Rampant development to try to heal the wound from what was done in the 60s and 70s...only to leave it in worse condition than it was.

What has been done to Rockaway rivals the catastrophe that is old Astoria. I remember how lovely Rockaway was in the 1960s.
But they endorsed one of his puppets- Rockaway only wants Bloomy lite.
The Jewish Sentinel, a free Manhattan weekly, has also endorsed Thompson, citing high cost of living, excessive ticketing, and the mayor's top-down style of leadership.
The endorsement stands in contrast to most of the city's other ethnic weeklies.
