A truly Bloombergian moment

Bloomberg Revealing His True Attitude About Affordable Housing

More fascinating is his claim that people are moving to the Upper East Side because they are being priced out of Astoria...

Bloomberg Watch also caught the NY Times covering for Bloomberg.

I wonder where his Spanish instructor moved to on the Upper East Side that was cheaper than Astoria. I know a lady who lived on York Avenue and moved to the Ditmars area 2 years ago because she couldn't afford the UES.

Bloomberg is purposely confusing the issue. There are -two- types of M-L projects: Rental and Co-Op.

The rental units have been under buyout pressure from greedy landlords who have sought to exploit the escape provision in the (1955) Bill.

Here in Yorkville, the late 70's Rupert Towers has been going through a wrenching period as the landlord of it's rental units (there are Co-ops here too) has bought it's way out of the program and is gradually evicting residents unable to pay the sacred "market" rate.

The other troubled area that Bloomberg mentioned are the M-L co-ops such a Co-op city in the Bronx. There has been a nascent "privatization" movement led mostly by a bunch or Russian Jewish immigrants. The story here is that then Gov Carey was pressured by the development's long-time, mostly Jewish residents to amend the rules of admittance so as to permit these immigrants and thus stem the influx of blacks.

These Russian types seem to reason that putting 15000 apartments on the market in a depressed borough will make them rich...and to hell with affordable housing for those who come after.

Another bunch of predatory flotsam we did not need.

It's simple. Bloomberg lives in a parallel universe.

If Bloomberg continues to put his foot in his mouth 'til it goes way down his gullet...he'll be tasting his own pubic hairs soon!

What an aloof jerk...
showing the onset of "billionaire's dementia".

He's out of touch with reality...
(Unless he's going to use the mega bucks he's spending on his campaign as a tax write off when he loses)!

Then I'll take it all back...what a fox he is!

He has one thing right--we're all being priced out of Astoria. I understand they are opening up the old tunnels that led down the East River and we can all move in.

Delirious, earth to Bloomberg...no one most to the Billionaire's block unless Bloomberg is giving him free room in board as part of payment for lessons.

As anyone taught the mayor how to apologize. He still owes Azi Paybarah an apology.

Well, if human barracks are fine in Queens, and the Diverse! Vibrant! world is sooooo woooonderful as Vicky and her ilk tell us, why not also Manhattan (which is [gasp!] getting less diverse as we speak?

Why doesn't the media cover it?
