Traffic tickets for faulty registration stickers

From Fox 5:

New York City's ticket agents are nailing people with tickets they don't deserve and fines they should not have to pay. It's all about inspection decals that are peeling off windshields because of some bad adhesive. Fox 5 interviewed at least two motorists who couldn't believe that they got tickets when the decals peeled off. After Fox 5's John Deutzman looked into things, the city dismissed their tickets, but that doesn't mean it can't happen to you.

Who cares? Let the drivers pay, for once.

Looks like there's a pissed off bicyclist who is ok with false accusations and unjustifiable punitive actions as long as it's against motorists.

Same exact thing happened to me. I reinforced it with tape and got ticketed. If you need to reinforce it, you are supposed to use glue because taped stickers are not considered permanently affixed (never mind, I had only one car).

I got nailed for 2 of these tickets! But I didn't have time to go to court and fight it so I just paid it unfortunately.

hmmm...funny how the city has no problem with this and parking meters but seems totally clueless when it comes to absentee landlords with grafitti defaced illegally converted buildings, or developers gleefully doing just about anything they want.

You need to go to the DMV website and apply for the new stickers, there is no charge.
You will need the number off the old stickers BEFORE they fall off.

All thanks to the Environmental people. Try buying oil based water-sealer for your deck. Its latex or silicon based junk that is shot in 1 year (turns white and flaky) and must be sanded off taking days leaving a more toxic airborne mess.
I had to scout old mom and pop hardware stores to find original Thompsons water seal.

This is money grabbing harrassment.
Why should people put up with this?
Government no longer exists to serve the people. Government exists to prepetuate itself.

Simply pathetic.
Sometimes is seems that government is at war with the people that created it. Very sad.

"as long as it's against motorists".

The "Brownies" people taking these state and city jobs are complete “inner city” morons themselves. The city trained and “tuned” the tests especially for them.
And YES most have no cars or pot to piss in themselves

Ever been to a county park like, Corona, Rye Playland or DMV?
These a'Os operate like robots in a this daze like fashion.
I’m beginning to think many received GED’s in jail, rehab and had these part time jobs handed to them via some social program or Sec 8.

Bottom line is that all of these people have quotas to fill. The city didn't need to tell them to use their "discretion" but that tickets on registration tickets issued during the time period when the registrations were defective would not count towards a quota and would be voided.

The city is counting on people not being able to lose money from work to fight these.

One time I parked a car. Got out and walked to the muni meter to pay. The ticket agent was standing next to my car looking at me while I parked. I was ticketed in the few seconds between parking and exiting my car.

Because of the time period of the ticket and the payment receipt (less than 1 minute) it was voided.

I had to travel to Jamaica to accomplish this. I was registered with Temp agencies at the time and this individual effectively cost me at least a day's work and possibly more wages for this idiocy.

I have fought these tickets in the past by mail when I lived in Ridgewood.
It was some address in Albany I had to write to some "exparte judge (spelling).
I and the city would then get a conformation letter in 2 weeks saying "dismissed" invalid ticket.
Things may have changed.
Im sure they still have "exparte judgments" it’s likely hidden so people don’t know about it.

NYS DMV says using clear tape is legel 2nd paragraph down as well as how to get a replacement here:

The traffic monkeys love writing tickets,as long as it's not harlem,bed-stuy or jamaica.

Traffic dept is little more than a dumping ground for the welfare queens who are too dumb enough to work the system *without* having to hold a job.

FYI-

The State DMV Commissioner has issued a memo (circulted to some law enforcement agencies) that if the sticker is reinforced with tape, i.e., compliant, the owner/operator should not be summonsed.

This memo came out recently and may not have made the rounds.
