Tony is fed up

From AM-NY:

Tony Avella doesn't have much money and most New Yorkers have never heard of him.

But the city councilman and former aide to Mayors Ed Koch and David Dinkins is competing for the Democratic nomination and the chance to challenge the billionaire mayor.

Avella says Bloomberg has "no principles," caters only to the superrich and has ruined the city with overdevelopment.

"I am fed up," Avella said in an interview. "So even though it's a 1 in 1,000 shot, and I'm risking my career on it, I'm going to do this because it has to be done. There's got to be change."

Unfortunately, as Miss Heather points out, the "new" NYC doesn't care what happens.

Brilliant Miss Heather! We need to see more of this...

Folks, remember, your taxes are not going into your community. They are being starved for services.

Its going into Blumberg's NY a place that is:

1. clueless midwestern kids ready to meet, mate, and move.

2. clueless immigrants who consider this a waystation on to somewhere else.

3. a comsopolitan Manhatttanite who doesn't think at all.

Aided and abetted by stupid Queens Newspapers, not very bright Queens pols, and naive shop keepers with his signs in their front windows on Grand Ave.

Tony is our own. He is for the rest of us.

I spoke to Phil Ragusa about the Repubs supporting Bloomturd. He said Avella 'wont work'. I brought uo Willets Point, and he called it a 'crudhole'. Didnt matter to him that the land is owned by his constituents who own legitimate businesses. He laughed and said, 'how legit are the workers that work there?' It was a point of amusement with him.

If you are a Queens Repub, this is the party you belong to. This is all b4 the NYS Senate debacle.

Please, Dems, Reps, reject these PEOPLE!!!

Tony must have made that "1 in 1000" comment in a moment if tiredness or needing a break.

Tony Avella is the best possible choice for mayor for this city. Perhaps he is not hearing what I hear: Many, many people detest the Commissar and just want him gone.

It's a long slog, Tony, but keep going. You are going to be our next mayor!

Anonymous said...

I agree with you Mr. Taxpayer. The people love Tony. The corporate media (aren't they the ones existing on the $40 Million out of bloomburd's pocket?) acts like he does not exist and why doesn't he go away.

Tony is the best possible chance for a decent city.

Chris said...

I dont plan on voting in the mayoral election for either clown.Bloomberg is a joke and Avella is a little to "progressive" for me.I watched that video of Tony with the so called "WORKING FAMILY PARTY" that was a joke.

Then you'll take your lumps "Chris".

People like you deserve a despotic monarch to run their lives!

Your "brain" has atrophied along with your spine!

FU in spades...you apathetic coward!

Americans have and continue to die defending OUR RIGHT TO VOTE !

Too bad you're not in the front lines with our brave soldiers!

The Marines would never have you...for sure!

Someone please explain to me why progressive is a dirty word.

Many years ago a Englishman said to me "England went from Barbarism to Civilization and the USA went from Civilization to Barbarism".

Perhaps this what he meant.

Meanwhile, they struggle with the issues in astorians.com where the anti-Avella contingent slams Queenscrap as having a viewpoint a bit narrow.

The pot calling the kettle black, folks?

And the self-styled political hacks Avella's problem is .... he doesn't play with political hacks.

Ah, what happens to the issues, bub? Maybe you should spend less time in the clubhouse and a bit more out with the folks in the streets.

Getting along with Bitchy (or should we say Butchy) Quinn might be important to a select few, but anger about that 9 story crap pile facing ones back yard is a bit more mainstream.

But like the proverbial dog walking on its hind legs, don't comment on how its done, but the wonder is the discussion is held in that community at all.

I'd rather have Mike Tyson as the mayor instead of Tony Avella.

Taxpayer said...

Chris is too lazy or stupid to vote. He won't look out for HIS own interests, so someone with other interests will vote on his behalf.

And, we'll get someone. I hope it will be Tony Avella. And I'm voting for MY interests. It turns out that Tony's views most match mine.

Tony is a decent man who takes care of his family - he actually has one; he doesn't have to manufacture one for photo ops.

He lives in a neighborhood much like most of ours. Shovels his own snow, rakes his own leaves, puts out his own garbage, and is neighborly to all in his community.

He's one of us. He's been through all the same things we endure. Unresponsive police, failed sanitation pickups, parking problems, busses that bunch up in threes after a 45 minute wait.

Who do you want as manager of city agencies: someone who has sat in the back of a limo for years or someone who has experienced everything we do?

Tony refused to take the illegally enacted pay raise, and is not running for an illegally enacted 3rd term.

So, what do you want? an honest or a corrupt (and corrupting) mayor?

Your choice.

Mine is to dump the corruption.

I think that enough people do care about this city and are waking up and seeing that things are not what Doomberg would have us believe. If the election were a sure thing, why is our despotic ruler spending millions upon millions assaulting us with his half truths and deceptions (400,000 jobs?) which, by the way, are starting to offend people by this blatant display of wealth during tough times?

Hang in there, Tony. You are doing and saying the right things and I know that you are a man of your word. Just keep repeating to yourself that Davey slew Goliath. History has a habit of repeating itself.

Tony will never win. The election is months away and no one knows who he is. You will only be disappointed. Vote Bloomberg and be a winner.

Queens Crapper said...

What would we "win" by doing that?

chris said...

The government is too intrusive,I dont like bloomberg but im a republican and we need someone better then bloomberg on the ticket.

Its like everyone in NYC is a democrat wtf.

Anonymous said...

"And that's a BAD thing?"

It is, IG, when those dems are as corrupt as it gets. Time for a new slate of names and an adherence to true democratic goals and ideals.

My point was what makes Republicans any better? Politicians who have sold their souls to the devil come in all forms....

It's of no economic benefit to me to vote Republican, so I rarely do.
(BTW I voted for Padavan only 'cause I hated Slimeball Gennaro so much.)

The corruption by both parties goes real deep...and unreported by the media that used to protect us by objectively reporting the news and not slanting it toward the mouths that feed them. When you read the Courier, for example, you find it difficult to distinguish between stories and advertorials for elected officials.

So what makes our government any better than the corrupt governments around the world?

"Progressive" to many is indeed a dirty word for it is viewed as synonymous with "collectivist." It's a sleight-of-hand semantic word shuffle. "Progressive" to what?

"Collectivism holds that, in human affairs, the collective - the society, the community, the nation, the proletariat, the race, etc. - is the UNIT OF REALITY AND THE STANDARD OF VALUE. On this view, the individual has reality only as part of the group, and value only insofar as he serves it." - Leonard Peikoff, "The Ominous Parallels" (www.aynrand.org)

let's not vote for a mayor who has his own special interest before the people. let's not vote for a mayor who allows over delevelops and then backs the shit up with 20 million and says will put it to use for housing and us forking the bill with section 8's. let's not vote for a mayor who tells us to go green and gives us a contaminated school and waste managment. what part don't people see???? bloomturd doesn't care for us folks and as he is DRIVEN to whitestone to the fire on the bridge, then he states this is why i tell everyone to take transit. hello shithole has to go.... i rather vote for tony over bloomazz anytime.

Avella has no chance against Bloom-bucks who buys elections and opponents. So far Avella has resisted, most suscumb to lucrative lures to drop out and join Bloom-bucks.

Its too bad a good decent indivdual such as Avella has no chance as we desperately need someone like him but with huge bucks. Impossible!

Anonymous said...

Maybe that's the angle Avella should play. The fact he CAN'T be bought and all these other jokers can be.

AVELLA: ELECT A MAYOR WHO CAN'T BE BOUGHT

How on earth does being a Republican stop you from voting for a Democrat?

What has the Republican party done for you?

If you used Hellmann's Mayonnaise when you are young, does that mean you must NEVER switch brands?

Earlier I said you were either lazy or stupid. Ragusa believes you are stupid. He's laughing at you for that attitude. Do you actually believe he won't sell you faster than the Commissar would, first chance he gets?

hey avella start taking some $$ from special interest and then youll be in the game

Avella takes plenty of money from special interests. His campaign contributions are loaded with money from lobbyists and consultants who represent developer interests. Stop believing this jerk people. He is a complete liar and loser.

Bloomberg is the best mayor NYC ever had. 50% of Manhattan, 95% of Bronx, 75% of Brooklyn/Queens were in third world conditions before he took over. This is supposed to be the greatest city in the world we are talking about. Yet virtually every major international city is decades ahead of NYC in infrastructure.

Bloomberg knows what is best for this city, and he is the reason we didn't see a California-like budget crisis despite the Wall Street turmoil. Your measly votes won't even put a scratch on his dominance. I can't wait until he prices all of you low lifes out of this great city, so we can tear down 1950 style apartment buildings that look like projects and build luxury condos, Starbucks and Barnes Nobles. Gentrify every neighborhood, eliminate rent control and rent stabilization, get the low income folks and illegals out of this great city, it will take many years of effort, but even after the great mayor finishes his third time, someone will carry the torch and continue to clean up this city.

Believe it.

At least he prepared to lose. I would also keep his work experience with Koch and Dinkins off his press releases. Most do not like either one of them , and NYC was in bad shape in their control. He should focus on his work and not the work he did for or with them.
That's free Tony, Take it.
Enjoy the day.

Tony isn't running for reelection because his constituents hate him, and he would never have a chance in City Council.

I first visited England in 1969 after graduating from College. I remember my seatmate on the plane ride over raving about how "fab" the Mulligatawny soup was in the Indian restaurants. That was 40 years ago.

I spent many nights in Hyde Park in London listening to the opinions given at Speakers' Corner.

May Gawd bless you. Now go and sin no more.
