Realtors footing Sadik-Khan's travel bill

From the NY Times:

Since becoming New York City’s transportation commissioner in 2007, Janette Sadik-Khan has crisscrossed the globe, visiting far-flung locales like Bogotá, Copenhagen and Beijing.

In the process, she has run up a travel bill of about $35,000, according to city records. And in some cases, Ms. Sadik-Khan has allowed outsiders, including transportation advocacy groups, to help foot the bill.

City records obtained by The New York Times show that such groups have paid for $10,200 of her travel. The costs include transportation, lodging and food.

In 2007, Smart Growth America, which promotes open space, helped pay for Ms. Sadik-Khan’s travel to Washington for a conference on climate change and transportation. The cost of the trip was $740. (Among the group’s financial contributors: Fannie Mae and the National Association of Realtors.)

"Smart Growth" consists of building tall near transportation hubs so that open areas will remain preserved. However, we have no open space left in this city and our growth is anything but "smart." Massive upzoning, lack of infrastructure, etc...

Re the title: So?
Re your point: It's time to annex Nassau or Westchester!

See the previous post for the conflict of interest of Fenves, who has been with the DEP since 1992, who violated the conflicts-of-interest law when she asked for and received services that would otherwise not be available to the general public.

How is Sadik-Khan different except in the details?

Not difference. Both corrupt.

Both following the lead of the world class manager, Commissar Death and taxes.

Maybe the self sytled media capital of the world will do a series of pieces on how this self styled manager has mismanaged the city?

oooh, censorship ... in New York ??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is what you get when you hire a bumbling yuppie moron to be commissioner. Why not hire a transit engineer to head the position?

It's amazing how Bloomberg, an electrical engineer, hires such inept morons instead of engineers.

Engineers are trained to solve these kinds of problems efficiently using concrete methods. Bloomberg knows this yet he hires liberal arts fools who have no background in analytical problem solving.

My federal government employment virtually prohibits accepting a doughnut from a member of the public (as it should.) How the hell is this allowed? No wonder the interests of the taxpayers are so ill served.
