F*cked up on Forest

This stop work order has been posted for so long that the sun bleached the words right off it.
The eyesore is located at 65-08 Forest Avenue and it was shut down in February 2008 for "CONSTRUCTION - CONTRARY/BEYOND APPROVED PLANS/PERMITS."
There was one violation for "FAILURE TO PERFORM ADEQUATE HOUSEKEEPING.UPON INSPECTION OF ABOVE PROPERTY ABOUT 20 C.Y. OF GARBAGE MIXED WITH CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS LAYING AROUND BUILDING AND NO ADEQUATE HOUSEKEEPING PROVIDED."
"WORK CONTRARY TO APPROVED PLANS FOR 401725656 OF WHICH THE PERMIT HAS EXPIRED. REMOVED ALL INTERIOR PARTITIONS/PL/ELEC" and "JOB FILED TO DO INTERIOR RENOVATION & RELOCATED BATHROOMS. CONTRARY HAZARDOUS WORK NOTED - REMOVED ALL INTERIOR PARTITIONS" This baby was gutted to the point where the building became unstable, as indicated to the right of the doorway.

There are 4 old violations still active for which the fines were not paid.

It's time for a forced demo.

Now wouldn't this property be an excellent candidate for the use of eminent domain?

What could be done with the property?

Raze it and create a neighborhood playground for the little ones.

Raze it and construct a day care center.

Raze it and create a dog run.

Raze it and have a neighborhood survey on what useful public purpose the property could serve.

Raze about a dozen or so properties with brazen, deliberate violations, and watch that activity end. (Start with No-Neck Como's violation collection.)

Make the property owner pay in full for all costs associated with the razing.

I live right around the corner from this place. Its been like that for the 3 and half years I lived here. And it emits a nice sewage odor late at night.
I really wish it would just be torn down.

Wow, now this is something the preservation community should be interested in.

Maybe at the next HDC conference .... wait a minute ... no? ... oh I see .... this never happens in Brooklyn Heights.

Sonny, they work at Pratt and are grads of Columbia and makes lots of money on real e$tate.

They will never talk about this.
