For me an early step to protecting other sentient creatures, like birds, is to drop "that" for "who." Those are birds who the trappers can't reach.
I'm all for the trees! The criticism that we do too little as a city in follow-up care has some truth to it, but the answer is more care, not fewer trees! Birds tend to agree. ;)
I am all for the tree planting as well, but it has to be done smartly, and who really believes that the developers will plant them as required? Who's going to monitor that and enforce it?
The sad thing here is that these birds genuinely endanger passengers taking off from JFK.
I love the Wildlife Refuge, but protected species nesting there such as the laughing gull have endangered passengers.
For this reason, JFK actually has hawks that they release regularly to keep other birds away. I have seen these birds in Cargo area 20, next to where the construction company that built the Airtrain had its temporary offices.

Bloomberg has no compassion for anyone but his rich club and his trees. I hope a tree falls on his head.

And no one has compassion for you, schmuck.
Someone is posting anti-semetic comments on this blog to make everyone look bad.
Almost as bad as a clubhouse hack tweeding an ethnic/racial.
Almost.
I have no words to describe the depth of my disgust for Bloomberg. He is the disgrace.
Nice move Eric, as usual, blather, and avoiding any negativity towards pols or developers.
What this man did to wildlife is obscene, almost as obscene as you looking the other way.

A natural solution rather than mass gassing! Are you listening, Doomberg?
