From the Queens Campaigner:
City Council candidate Jacques Leandre’s association with a controversial religious group may have cost him a key endorsement for his race against Councilman James Sanders (D-Laurelton), a source close to the contest said.
Leandre, who plans on running against Sanders in the Democratic primary this fall, did not receive the backing of the Queens Democratic Party last month despite picking up the support of Democratic District Leaders Elmer H. Blackburne and Jacqueline Boyce.
A person with knowledge of the factors behind the endorsement who asked not to be identified said members of the Queens Democratic Party and Working Families Party grew concerned about the 38-year-old candidate when they learned shortly before they made their endorsement picks that he was a member of the Nation of Islam and threw their support toward Sanders.
Leandre confirmed he has worked with the Nation of Islam in the past and defended them in State Supreme Court in a lawsuit filed against the group by the NYPD in the 1990s. He was also a guest on the Dec. 24 episode of the Sankofa Experience, a podcast hosted by Brian E. Muhammad, an advocate for the group, which Malcolm X joined and is currently led by Louis Farrakhan.

I wonder if he was on the Department of Homeland Security's watch list?
He will be now!
That doesn't matter.
He's toast now anyway!
Why is this an issue?
Monserrate cut a girl in the face, and that wasn't an issue with the Democrats. Only when he went grovelling to the Republicans, THEN the Democrats all got their panties in a bunch.
A black guy has ties to the Nation of Islam? That's redundant!
Isn't this simply a part of the "gorgeous mosaic" and "vibrant diversity" of the Democratic party?
After all, the Republicans are the ones who are really racist, right?
Not to mention we already have a member of the Black Panthers on the Council.
Where's his bowtie?
Where's his bowtie?
Bean pie, my brother??
A black guy has ties to the Nation of Islam? That's redundant!
Huh? Is that like white guys having ties to the KKK?
Huh? Is that like white guys having ties to the KKK?
Let's put it this way, dude: Farrakhan is WAY more mainstream and respected by average black Americans, than David Duke is by average white Americans.
Farrakhan attracted WAY more blacks males to Washington D.C. during his "Million Man Farce", oh, excuse me, "Million Man March", than David Duke would attract to East Bungle, Texas. David Duke would maybe attract 2 guys in a pickup truck named Cletus and Billy Bob.
Try and put your spin on that one, Whitey!

PO Philip Cardillo was murdered by these mutts April 14, 1972.
The article cited fails to mention, both the Mayor(Lindsay) and the PC(Murphy) did not attend Officer Cardillo's funeral.
And Rangels name pops up in this.
What is his platform? bean pies and hate for "the man"?
