I came across this material because of my interest in blimps, especially the Goodyear blimps. However, the brochure revealed facts about this borough's history that were previously hidden. It made me wonder how Queens would have developed should Holmes have been the dominant airport. Bear in mind that jet aircraft were unknown at this point in time. Living near LaGuardia is difficult enough but the impact that Holmes would have had is an interesting scenario to ponder.

"Tri-boro Boulevard". The later BQE?
Holmes Airport the site of The Lexington School for the Deaf, Bed & Bath, and Home Depot?
No longer Jackson Heights but East Elmhurst. Whazzup with "East Elmhurst"?

Based on the fact that the Queens Boulevard line was "under construction", this map is from before 1933.
There was no such thing as the BQE at that point, nor was it on Robert Moses' mind at that point.
One of the other sites that was being pushed as a location for an airport was in the Bronx, next to Pelham Bay Park, where Co-op City is now.
