Boro prez candidates a bunch of losers

From City Hall:

When Dave Kerpen announced his candidacy for the Queens borough presidency a month ago, he promised an ambitious social networking campaign.

It took only three weeks for Kerpen to determine the effort futile.

After learning that several “young Council members” who had privately promised to back his candidacy would instead be attending the April 29 campaign kickoff for Marshall, Kerpen decided to drop out of the race, he said.

You didn't get the backing of other tweeders (who overturned term limits) so you gave up? LOSER.

Republican candidate and Urban Elephants blogger Robert Hornak appears to be mounting the most formidable campaign against Marshall. Hornak would provide outspoken leadership akin to that of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (D), he said, in trying to promote the development of Willets Point and other foundering redevelopment projects.

Another land grabber, eh? If Marty Markowitz is your idol, you're a truly sad human being.

...despite her statements to the contrary, speculation remains that the aging Marshall may yet decide not to run for re-election. The theory goes that Marshall could petition onto the ballot, and then drop out, allowing Pheffer, who was likely to receive the party’s backing before the term-limits extension, to take Marshall’s place via a party vacancy committee.

Great. This borough is such a fucking joke.

The Boro is a joke, but the punchline is the Queens Co. GOP. They stand for nothing except the re-election of their few remaining dinosaurs.

"A what doe$ the Queen$ Co. Democratic Organization $tand for?"

I guess we should stand for the party that doesnt stand for the least.

I will rot in hell before I ever pull a lever for Bloomturd. If the Republican Party wishes to support a candidate that wants to to steal private property to hand it over to private developers then their sins are just as bad as Democrats

Republicans, please, abandon thy party, vote conservative but dont ever vote again for Bloomturd.

In the long term we will be stronger fot it.

Why is there even a boro president position?

Si senor...I'm running my donkey for burro president.

He's got more brains!

What's worse...having a street smart avaricious crook like Donald Manes or a dim witted developers' go-fer
like Helen Marshal for Queens boro prez?

We're screwed either way!

Time to buy myself a double headed dildo!

Why are there community boards?

To reward serving the clubhouse!

Now, now, now, (heh, heh, heh)...
it is absolutely essential for each and every one of the 5 boroughs of our great metropolis to have a bag man (or woman) occupying the seat of the borough presidency in order
to collect the numerous payoffs from developers and thereby distribute them, accordingly, to "deserving" pols who "play ball" within the crooked system!

Everytime someone quits, then a nominated person gets in without the benefit of a vote, the press and public must blast this, and some governing body (Supreme Court?) has to look into this.

It is an abuse of the system that disenfranchises the public of basic constitutional rights.

Casual acceptance of this by any citizen (yes, I mean YOU dear reader) is very dangerous to our system of government.

At a very fundamental level, like overturning public referendums, illegal if not in law (afterall its the clubhouse that writes the law) then certainly in spirit.

Just curious: Isn't Dick Morris the (married)guy that got caught with a hooker or something like that?

It is unfortunate that in a system stacked to protect incumbents, newcomers feel too intimidated to run.

In my neighborhood:

Assemblywoman Mayersohn ran 7 of her past 8 reelections unopposed.

Councilman Gennaro is planning a third term run (after opposing the mayor's term limits repeal plan) and there is nobody to oppose him.

State Sen. Malcolm Smith is down in the polls, but his reelection is also guaranteed.

My family left the Soviet Union for this?

Sergy, take heart.

My family lost fame and fortune fighting many revolutions (and their signatures on the dotted line to prove it) against arrogant corrupt officials and I am in the barricades centuries later doing the same thing.

Democracy is not in our genes. It must be relearned (and refought) with each generation.

Like the Rus and the Cossacks, Americans are pretty much the same. It is the human condition.

Sergey. One of the reasons your folks left the CCCP is for the free press. Crapper, keep hammerin'. Sergey, how's your baby-kissing skills?

what corruption. THANKS KING BLOOMBERG

You guys complain about incumbents, then you complain about the opposition, and then you don't run yourself, you just complain some more. I don't like the Dem machine, I am dissapointed in the QGOP, but I do like Hornak and will vote for him, mainly, because he is willing to fall on his sword.

When you claim Marty Markowitz as your idol and think WP land grab is a great idea, hopefully you do fall on your sword and stay down.

You've got to be kidding me. Wasn't he partners with Sheldon Felon Leffler?

Marc Leavitt has enthusiasm for Queens, and he is NOT a career politician, just a regular guy who wants to do a good job for our great borough. He's running Dem. opposing Helen Marshall and doesn't have the backing of the democratic "machine". It's nice to see a candidate working to get elected, who is not willing to be bought by special interests. He looks like the most promising candidate on the horizon for BP right now.

Don't you just love the carefully orchestrated shenanigans from these politicians. This is all a game to them. The Republicans can endorse anyone they want to, but I choose to vote for the best person who is capable of doing the job. If Hornak runs a good campaign, he has my vote. We need new blood -- not these old political hacks who made their temporary jobs permanent careers. Bye Bye Helen Marshall -- Bye Bye Mike Bloomturd.

Why does the boro president have a huge parking lot on union tpke? perhaps it could be use by cops and ada's who actually perform a function. marshasll= ipfw

Isn't the city in a financial crisis? Why do we need a borough president? They don't do anything except line their pockets with money from developers. I'm sure the city could function without them. Think of the money the city could save without employing them and their staffs. While we are on the subject, we have no need for a Public Advocate either. Come on folks, put on your thinking caps. How many city politicians (hacks) can we eliminate from our city payroll? I'm sure there is a slew of them. I'm sure nobody would notice if they were there or not.

Marc Levitt is going to shock people and win. He is really amazing. And do you really think Helen Marshall can win ?

I think people are sick of Helen Marshall and all of Queens council. We need change from the top and down.

Vote TONY AVELLA!

Marc Levitt may be a nice guy, but needs to learn a lot more about the real issues facing the many segments of Queens' communities before he leaps into a job this big.

There is no reason to have a Boro president. They have no real power and are just figure heads . They get paid too much to do so little. The position should just be canceled.
