Never open this park to families. Too dangerous. We have a landfill in Astoria near the bridge to Riker's Island that was closed in the 50's and still fenced off.
Let the birds have this land, and maybe some day hikers from the Nature Conservancy who know what is underneath and won't linger. No eating, no drinking near this.
