Developer evicts Greek Cultural Center

From the Daily News:

After 35 years in the same location, a popular cultural center in Astoria will shut its doors at the end of the year and will seek a new home.

The building on Hoyt Avenue South that has housed the Greek Cultural Center since 1974 is being torn down to make way for an apartment building.

The community is rallying around the organization, trying to raise money for a new space in the neighborhood by the beginning of 2010.

Let the Greeks move it into one of their Euro-trash cafes on Broadway.

And close those windows...we don't need air conditioned streets next month!

These cafes are out to fry the power grid with a waste of energy!
