12th school closes due to swine flu

From WCBS880:

St. David's School on Manhattan's Upper East Side is closed Monday after about 10 to 12 percent of the students reported flu-like symptoms.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the independent Catholic school for boys decided on its own to close, bringing to 12 the number of public and private schools shut down by the virus.

St. David's headmaster David O'Halloran says the number of children who fell ill over the last four days was "unusually high" and closing "seemed like the right thing to do for now."

Anyone know anything about IS 73 in Maspeth? It looks like there's a big press conference going on outside the school right now.

Rumor has it that 100 kids called out sick today, but Crowley forgot to notify the press for the press conference. Heard Joel Klein was there, so there may have been an announcement about closing the school.

MOTHER FXXKER BLOOMASS WHAT THE HELL IS IT GOING TO TAKE YOU TO GET IT ALREADY. CLOSE ALL SCHOOLS ENTIRELY FOR THE REMAINING SCHOOL YEAR, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC.

THEN OPEN THE DAMN WINDOWS AND CLEAN UP THE SCHOOLS. HOW THE HELL DO YOU JUST CLOSE FOR A WEEK. A CHILD MAY NOT SHOW SIGNS AND THEN COMES BACK TO SCHOOL AND GETS SICK. SO THEN WHAT YOU CLOSE AGAIN. DUMB ASSES RUNNING THE WHOLE SYSTEM.

MY SON CAME HOME TODAY AND SAID A KID IN HIS CLASS DIDN'T COME TO SCHOOL DUE TO THE FLU...
