Scott and Tommy are now excavating the St. Saviour's site
without a permit. Surprise! The DOB states the following:
Do not work in an excavation or trench that is not properly protected. Do not store spoil, materials or equipment along the edge of an excavation or trench. Do not drive or park vehicles along the edge of an excavation or trench. Oh well, I guess they'll get around to inspecting this one day...
If there actually are
bodies buried there we'll never know. Maspeth gets screwed yet again. Let's recall what our current Council Member, Elizabeth Crowley, had to say about this site before she was elected:
(She was being handled by the Parkside Group back then, who was also lobbying on behalf of the developers.) Thanks for looking out for
us developers, Liz!

call 911...
Dizzy Lizzy does it again. I often wonder how she can say anything with her head up her ass?
The archilogical site forever destroyed - and ignored as usual by the preservation community ...
(who does remember us - didn't you get an email from one well-known group that claims to represent all of us and wants to prove this broad support by asking you to sign your name to ....
as yet another ...
preservation platform ...
not clear whatever the hell that means or how that will change things one iota.
But funny how these groups mysteriously dig up our names when they need to flesh out a page showing broad support ....
then promptly forgets us when it comes to payback).
Let's also recall that these two also promised to clean up the oil that leaked onto the property before doing any excavation work. What happened to that?
Is Juniper Park Civic Association on top of all this?
Who do you think called in the complaint?
Here's a better question:
Why aren't the buildings department and the council member's office on top of it?
As duly noted...a certain member of a western Queens historical society
(part of that same preservation community that's been referred to here) refused to be quoted in the press regarding saving St. Saviour's.
You're quite a jellyfish yourself...bub!
Because the area has been red-lined for destruction ("development")!
Where is State Senator Addabbo on this? I forget that Maspeth is hard to get to when traveling from Howard Beach.
Only in Queens do we blame volunteers for the failings of elected officials.
"Where is State Senator Addabbo on this? I forget that Maspeth is hard to get to when traveling from Howard Beach."
He's in the driver's seat Danny boy.
The human remains likley got tossed in a dumpster when they cleared the trees.
I'm positive there were graves there.
When we were kids in the 70's "hanging out"
A pissed off priest pointed out some rocks i a area with faint writing on them.
The stones and records likley "disappeared" when the Koreans or real estate agent got sold the place
I'm not sure what remains would be left or look like after 200 years in the ground.
It may have turned into soil and "minced" when the buldozers cleared the trees and roots.
What the hell is community five doing about this one? apparently nothing just like the damn school! i'm going to drive by there and see it for myself i can't believe this is going on without a permit... and then i'm calling a screaming to gary on this one! get ready gary.
i can't believe the city is not over there shutting this shit down and locking up the place. so where is the park, that everyone was trying to fight for, I guess they gave up on that too. It's a damn shame Maspeth gets fxxked over so much.
Spread the word in real estate cyberspace that this site is a former graveyard.
That'll kill it for any Asians interested in buying condos (or whatever) here!
The ghosts are gonna get you!
NO DOUBT THE DEVELOPER WILL BE HAUNTED BY THEM!
