Brooklyn crap turned into illegal halfway house

From NY1:

Tarrats found out that a halfway house was set up shop in the townhouse next door after his previous neighbor was foreclosed upon. He says there are upwards of 20 people living in this small two-family home, and they are not quiet neighbors.

It's not just annoying, but illegal. The building's certificate of occupancy defines the building as a two-family home. There are also safety concerns.

NY1 called the Fire Department and when officials visited the illegal shelter they found enough bunk beds for 30 people and no sprinkler system. They ordered the building to be vacated and the Department of Buildings issued a violation for improper use of the two-family home.

Beautiful. The now-homeless thugs will go on a rampage after they figure out what neighbor is responsible. His life won't be worth a penny.

Yes the innocent and affected who do the right thing and deserve the code to be observed and enforced - are exposed to danger and violence.

Thanks Mayor Bloomberg for encouraging this situation. However, don't give up make your calls not from your phone but a pay phone or possibly email do that you are not identified nor do you need to be identified in a 311 call - just say you dont wish to reveal your identity and state your concern for your saftey.

Thank God the DOB finally did their job.

These flop houses are popping up all over Queens.

Call, don't be afraid.

Gee, I want to see a Pratt study about this, or maybe something from Hunter.

Perhaps the Muncipal Art Society could fund ... naw, to many developers on their board.
