Bklyn builder dumps cash on Quinn & Katz

From the NY Post:

A controversial condo project next to the Brooklyn Bridge is sailing through the city's land-use review process -- and that has caught the attention of good government groups, who say the secret of its success may lie in the lobbying megabucks the developer doled out.

The project has a staunch opponent in local Councilman David Yassky, who says the Dock Street building in DUMBO is out of scale and too close to the bridge, forever destroying historic views of the iconic span. And that adversary, says Dick Dadey, executive director of the government watchdog group Citizens Union, "should have been enough to kill it a long time ago" because the council historically backs local council members on land-use issues.

The owners of the company, David and Jed Walentas, and their top staff have doled out $29,700 in campaign donations to Councilwoman Melinda Katz and another $19,800 to Council Speaker Christine Quinn, since the project was resubmitted in 2007, records show.

I know about this job site and I think everyone around it should be very concerned. It is not a union job. So not only do you have unskilled workers but they can't speak english and they are not here leagally. Someone should investigate the developer and that ass kissing bitch Quinn. The buildings along "KENT AVENUE" are definatly out of scale. Even the union job I am on. I sit there, at lunch, and look at the overdevelopment and how it makes the former river/city veiw dissapear with those high risers blocking everything. All over brooklyn, all you see everywhere is condos being built on any empty lot. Alot of them have stop work orders on them and the ones that dont are taking twice the time to finish. I really feel for the people of this neighborhood. They are totally over developing and there are'nt enough hospitals, cops or fire dept. that are gonna be able to handle all of this. And thanks to someone, all the street parking along kent ave was turned into bike lanes so all the people cant find parking on the alternate side rules. That is except for the richy rich, they have in door parking lots on the high risers. It is a shame that the historical Brooklyn is going to crap. Quinn and David Yassky should be investigated and brought up on something cause they are making money off these developers. By the way, that building they awere talking about is gonna be a 40 story building. Say good bye to the veiws if you live anywhere near there.

Big surprise!

You're telling us that C.M. "alley" Katz took money from the builders?

No!

That slut has spread her pocketbook open to every major (and minor) developer in NYC!

She's their poster child!

Melinda is known as "the courtesan of the real estate industry"

It's those "lying Walentas" again (Polish gangsters?) !!!

We've known for a long time that these two council whores are for sale or rent.

I would like to know why Katz is nearly $10,000 more expensive then Quinn.

Is Quinn just another washed up cheap whore, or is Katz just very high maintenance?

Considering the two I'd prefer pasty faced Katz to double chinned Quinn!

I'm not a chubby chaser...like 'em more trim.

Hubba, hubba!

Melina Katz is the Queen of the real estate kick backs and Quinn is just an all-around crook.

Katz is an outgrowth of the pathological envirnment of Queens politics.

Saying 'Katz is a jerk' or the like is about as usuful as going 'nya nya nya' on a playground of 7 year olds.

When you see other boroughs and what they get don't you feel shame? Do't you want to do something useful to change things?

Don't worry, Major Developer, Melida is not interested (unless you're a woman!)

Big friggin deal! I don't see any of these so called good government groups getting these buildings torn down.

This project is going forward without Yassky's support because nobody really cares what the little weasel thinks.

Queens Crapper said...

No, more than likely it's going forward because he asked for permission to vote no while everyone else votes yes a la Crowley and Como. makes you look like a hero to your constituents while still getting the job done.

Thats because the developers, bankers, architects, etc live in protected districts.

That is why instead of talking about fighting this blight, they hold tiresome discussions on how to live with it.

They have no interest in helping the rest of the city any more than the mayor.

Remember that the next time they rediscover you .... for a donation.

Problematic development? Bet your last dollar that the ever sorry Melinda Katz's lips are planted on the developer's ass. If currying favor with developers at the expense of serving your constituents is the formula for political success, she's smokin.'!!!
