ALBANY, N.Y. - Senate Republicans want to stop an effort by Democrats to derail New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's attempt for a third term.
The GOP hopes to defeat a Democratic bill requiring city voters to reconsider the City Council's 2008 decision to suspend term limits.
Republicans appear to be gaining an ally: Democratic Sen. Martin Malave Dilan of Brooklyn. Dilan voted against Republicans on the bill in committee but did so "without recommendation," so he could vote with Republicans on the Senate floor.
Dilan is opposed to term limits. If he defects and the rest of the chamber votes along party lines, it would end in a 31-31 tie, which would kill the measure.
Democratic Sen. Kevin Parker says Republican senators are in Bloomberg's pocket.

I wonder how many $$$$$$$$$$$
Boom-turd slipped into his numbered account!
I meant Bloom-turd....sorry!
Let's think it through. If Bloomie is not our next mayor, who will be? Is there any candidate with the potential to actually win that you would call an improvement?
I'd vote for Weiner or Thompson in a heartbeat.
Again, the Republican will give Bloomberg a lip-lock colonic.
And then call it medicine.
Ever notice that Republicans don't have chapped lips?
Ever wonder what they use on their lips?
Sing a long with me
"a little money here ...
