The "new" Coney Island has arrived!
From
YourNabe.com:
A new topless bar complete with stripper pole and private theme rooms has opened one floor below the offices of Community Board 13 and down the block from P.S. 90 in Coney Island – but no one seems to be batting an eyelash.
Open for about a month, the Foxy Gentleman’s Club at 1201 Surf Avenue advertises table-side dancing, VIP rooms and “beautiful show girls.” A red neon sign over the entrance on West 12th Street depicts the provocative silhouette of a nude woman on her knees – just feet from the sign directing the civic-minded to the offices of Community Board 13.
Public School 90, as well as the JASA Luna Park Senior Center and Luna Park Houses, are located just down the block.

Its nice to know the children are getting an education.
Where is CB13?
This is so sad. And right down the block from a school! If we don't stop this now, this is going to be be in everyone's neighborhood and possibly down the block from YOUR house.
It starts with a Hooters, then strip clubs and God knows what else. But most of you who love to argue with me about this don't care.....as long as it's not in your backyard.
Oops.....Coney Island, duh.
:)
This is why I post these things. Every time I do, you should ask yourself, "How would I feel if I lived across the street or next to that?" It might not be in your backyard today, but it could be tomorrow. So why not try to do something about it now before that happens?
IG: This is about Brooklyn's CB13, which includes Coney Island, where this is. But it could just as easily be any CB in Queens.
Crappy, this is what I was thinking last night. I live near a very busy commercial strip. Hooters could easily open around the block from me one day. Then what? Now I have to devote my life to preventing that from happening. A battle that I'm certain me and my neighbors would lose. And so we all move. This is the same crap that's happening everywhere.
And not enough New Yorkers are savvy enough or care enough to notice.
JUST SAY NO TO BLOOMBERG!
This story comes from the Bay News. If you're going to cite something please provide the correct attribution. It's not difficult - just fair.
Not being from Brooklyn, I wouldn't know what you call your local newspaper. The URL is YourNabe.com.
Opens up downstairs from the Comm Board and it is just hitting the media now? Something is weird here.
They'll probably use some defense that Sideshows By The Seashore has burlesque every now and again.

NO NOT REALLY. YOU KNOW NOTHING OF OUTER B NEWS.
